The West Tower is a tower at Hogwarts. The Owlery is located on the top of this breath-taking tower. During the winter months, the tower is very cold, to the point that one should be careful with ice on the higher landings. A tightly spiralling staircase leads from the bottom of the tower on the seventh floor up to a door leading out onto the battlements.
He's kind of bored, so he's decided to go for a wander around the castle. Of course, he's got it all mapped out in his head already by this point (come on, he's only been here for almost five years), so it's still kinda boring, but it's a better alternative to History of Magic. He knows the whole curriculum for that anyway, and he doesn't like how every time a King or a Queen is mentioned the entire class turns and looks at him as though he hasn't heard. So he's gone for a walk instead.

Ray was wandering around himself, also bored out of his mind. He wasn't quite sure where he'd end up since he wasn't paying attention, and he for sure didn't expect anyone else to be wandering around the same place he was. He spotted Richard a little ways away, and jogged over to him. "Hey, I didn't expect to meet anyone else during this time of day. You ditching class as well?" He questioned.

He chuckles a little at that, "I mean you're not wrong there, learning about history has never really interested me." He said with a small shrug. "Yeah I am, ditching Herbology at the moment. I deal with plants enough at home, don't need to deal with them here."
"Kind of the same situation, actually. Way too much history with my family," he says, coming to the realisation that this kid maybe doesn't know who he is? Armed with this knowledge, he decides not to bother telling him for now. It'll be fun. "Parents herbologists or something?"

He groaned a little at that, "Yes. All they do is garden, and everything I hear is about plants. If you ever want to know the cycle of plant growth, I'm your guy," He said the last part with a small chuckle. "Oh! I'm Ray by the way, what's your name?"
"Oh, I'm Richard," he introduces himself, adjusting his bag on his shoulder. He doesn't usually use a surname so he completely forgets it for a few seconds, and then adds it as an afterthought. "Windsor. You?"

"Richard Windsor. Want me to call you Richie?" He asked with a small grin, thinking the nickname suited him. "Ah, I'm just Raymundo Cortes. But please call me Ray," When he said his full name, his Spanish accent was prominent.
He returns the grin, "Yeah, sure, call me whatever," he says. "Hey, are you Spanish? Cause if you are, that's really cool. My family's just boring old English." He allows himself a little inward snicker at that. Boring is something that his family most certainly is not.

“I am I am, born in Mexico. But I live here in England with my aunt and uncle during the school year,” he replied. “Boring old English huh? Seems like that’s the majority of people at this school,” he said with a small laugh. “But hey, I promise if you stick around me then you won’t be bored ever again,”
"And vice versa," he replies, "I aspire to always be my least boring self." Something occurs to him then. "Wait so do you not board - ha, board. Bored. Never mind - do you not board at Hogwarts then? If you're staying with your aunt and uncle?" He's never heard of someone just not boarding, but everything's possible when you have magical travel.

He gives a small laugh at the pun, even though it was really bad. “Nah, my aunt and uncle live in London and so during the holidays I stay with them. Though during summer I go home to Mexico to be with my family. And usually during the week i go back to London as well, Hogwarts is just too restricting for me.” He said with a small shrug, “What about you? I guess you board here like everyone else,”
He's surprised the pun actually got a positive reaction - usually with his siblings it's why are you like this Richard or leave me alone Richard. "Yeah, usually I stay here during the year," he says, "but sometimes we have functions and events to go to as a family so I go home for a few days, and then I'm expected to catch up on the work I missed." He sounds disgusted, as though this is some sort of personal torture devised just to punish him for being born.

“Sounds like you have a pretty big family if you have so many events to go to that you can’t get homework done,” ray commented, wondering if maybe Richards family was big like Ray’s. “What’s it like staying here year round through?”
"Yeah, it's plenty big enough for me, thanks," he says, though he's pretty sure the size of his family is in no way related to how many events they attend. "My aunt's getting married over Christmas, so that'll be another lot of holiday work ignored." He smiles. "Staying here all year round's okay, I guess, but I get a lot more breaks than everyone else from being here so I don't really know. It's probably boring, and probably best for the teachers that I don't stay here all the time."

"Oh geez, family weddings are always either a disaster or full of drama. I've been to my fair share of those," He said, hoping Richard's wasn't like that. "Ah, so are you like the class clown or something?" He asked with a mischevious grin.
"Oh, I'm worse than the class clown," he replies, laughing. "The teachers hate me but they can't really do anything about it because I think they're afraid if they write home my grandmother will kill them or something. Pretty sure she'd kill me not them but it works in my favour so." He shrugs, nonchalant.

"Your grandma...?" Ray trailed off, wondering why they'd write to his grandma and not his parents. Before suddenly everything hit him, all the little hints Richard had been dropping and Ray just groaned. "I'm the biggest idiot ever," He said and sighed with a shake of his head. "You're Richard, Prince of Wales aren't you?"
"Technically I'm Richard of Wales, not Prince of Wales, but yeah, right idea," he says, grinning. "I'm glad you didn't recognize me though. It's kinda hard to have a conversation when the other person's constantly either like oh my god your princeness please marry me or I don't approve of a monarchy and therefore I need to show my vehement dislike of you because you exist."

He laughed a little at that, "Ew really? Girls like, throw themselves at you like that? That must be really annoying," He said, thinking that would be the worst. But, he was gay, so he wouldn't even like it for other reasons anyways. "Well I don't really spend much time in England other than going to school, and really the only royal I know is the Queen."
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure one of my aunts, who will remain unnamed for the time being, married in for the influence," he says, "So we've gotta be extra careful. Anyway," he decides that gossiping about his family to random people he's just met maybe isn't the best idea. "Now you know two royals, and stick with me and you'll probably meet all of them."

He shrugged at the influence comment, “It happens.” He said, before raising an eyebrow. “Very tempting offer, but do I really want to meet all of the royals? They might not like me, since I’m a commoner,” he said, but it was more in a joking/teasing manner.
He rolls his eyes, "Honestly, if they can put up with me, they can put up with you. You seem like a responsible young man or whatever so they'll probably decide you're a good influence and then they'll offer to pay you to be my friend."
- “Books are worlds that you create.” Message Me - 21:25, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
“Oh believe me I’m not that responsible, I mean I do get my homework done and all that but honestly If I had a choice I wouldn’t be here at school.” He said with a shrug, before chuckling. “Getting paid to be your friend? Would they really do that?”
"Honestly, they probably would, if only as a joke. Literally none of us seem to be proper royals at this point." He grins, "How can you be bothered to do homework when there's so much more interesting things you could be doing?"
- “Books are worlds that you create.” Message Me - 21:57, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
He shrugged a little at that, "Well I'm not on the Quidditch team, and I have like 2 friends. So I don't really have anything to do besides homework. I mean if you can name off a few things I'd be more then happy to hear them,"
