Sarah and Kinsel
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 13:31, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
*Vetus begins to wonder if he should have made his invitation a little more - urgent and insistent.*
Sarah NormanDurmstrang/Salem/Hogwarts -"How do you find the facts when memory becomes a dream?" – 17:56, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
*Sarah blinks as she steps out of the fire pit into the bright light.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 17:58, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
"το σπίτι μου είναι το σπίτι σας. However, since I'm about to have a rather larger and longer-term guest, may I urgently recommend that you both vacate the vicinity of the firepit - now!" *He extends his hand towards Sarah.*
Sarah NormanDurmstrang/Salem/Hogwarts -"How do you find the facts when memory becomes a dream?" – 18:05, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
*Sarah takes the hand, and is instantly wrenched, none too gently, against the wall, as a six-foot draconian head erupts from the embers, and sways menacingly from side to side. However, as the dragon sees Sarah, it lets out a bellow, and the whole head and neck slam, with a reverberating thud, to the ground. The dragon mews, like a thousand cats in an infinite tin bath, but it is still, discernibly, the base sound.*
*Kinsel and Vetus can see, between the legs of the dragon, a clutch of eggs, glowing amid the embers.*
Sarah NormanDurmstrang/Salem/Hogwarts -"How do you find the facts when memory becomes a dream?" – 18:08, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
*Sarah leaps forward, with a shriek in the 80dB range, and wraps her arms around as much of the snout as she can reach.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 18:49, October 19, 2012 (UTC)~
*He looks with discernible consternation at the eggs, and then addresses Kinsel.* "I don't know about you, Headmaster, but I was not informed that my houseguest would be arriving en famille. I count seven unanticipated bundles of joy which, if my xenobiology has not deserted me completely, look to be a couple of days, at the outside, from joining the outside world. Your suggestions would be much appreciated at this juncture."
Sarah NormanDurmstrang/Salem/Hogwarts -"How do you find the facts when memory becomes a dream?" – 19:04, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
*Sarah and Juliya are still utterly engrossed in making happy noises at each other. They appear entirely unaware of anything save one another.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 13:48, October 23, 2012 (UTC)
*As Kinsel says the word "warm", Vetus' wand appears in his hand, and he shifts his grip. Beneath the eggs the embers burst into life, flames leaping, but curtailed suddenly at the eighteen inch point. Juliya's lack of reaction suggests that she is not feeling the temperature change.* "Something along those lines, Headmaster?"
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 09:13, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
*Vetus flicks his wand round to point at the ceiling, and a chunk thereof falls at his feet, about half a pound in weight. He picks it up and hands it to Kinsel.* "If you follow the recipe in my book, Headmaster, then this powder will bring you back at any time you desire - always assuming I'm not indisposed, of course. We can . . . catch up at your leisure."
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 13:47, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
*With a gentle, and in Sarah's assessment genuine, smile.* "Come, my dear, it is time you and your friend defended your new-found home. I shall aid as best I may. Climb up on Juliya's back, and fly straight out of the cave. Your journey though a great one, the distance will be short."
Sarah NormanDurmstrang/Salem/Hogwarts -"How do you find the facts when memory becomes a dream?" – 13:54, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
*Sarah scrambles up on Juliya's back, and signs and says "Goodbye" as she prepares to guide Juliya on their flight.*
*The duo emerge from the cave and, thanks to Vetus' placement, are only some four minutes' flight time from the school. Juliya drops Sarah off by the Staircase Tower, and then, following her instructions, makes her own way to the Gamekeeper's Hut.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 19:42, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
*He's twirling his wand, trying to get a smooth motion as it leaps like a salmon from hand to hand , but of late it's been - he thinks the term might be "glitchy". Prone to error, not entirely responsive. This is not a wand of any wood, common or exotic, and it will take uncommon understanding to fix what ails it. He continues to twirl as he mulls over his realistic options.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 20:00, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
"Perhaps . . . the latest incarnation of the Ollivander." he thinks "Yes, they've always had a gift for scrying the baton and deducing what ails it. So, visit or summon? Well, I prefer to avoid the city, and there was that recent jaunt to the watering-hole to perform a recce, so, summon." *The concept is barely complete before he despatches his owl, Pallas, with his epistle.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 07:35, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
*Due to his familiar level link with Pallas, Vetus knows that Ollivander got the powder, and expects him at any moment. He therefore disposes and disports himself visibly "at his ease" on a reclining Roman couch, grapes in hand, and awaits the arrival of his guest.*
Ollivander emerged from the fireplace, looking around.
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 15:32, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
*He rises in a single, seemingly boneless, movement from the couch, and walks forward, right hand extended before him.* "Garrick Ollivander? So glad you could accept my invitation. I'm Vetus Tenibrus - yes, the same one your great-grandfather had dealings with. I trust the journey was not too uncomfortable?"
Ollivander shook his hand. "Not too uncomfortable, no," he conceded. "Though I am greatly intrigued by the means of which you brought me here."
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 15:41, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
*With a self-deprecating chuckle* "Well, it's a little something we came up with a while back, accidental side effect of the search for a stable form of Greek Fire actually, and it turns out to be a single-use, location specific powder. I mean, it still needs a fireplace, but nothing more. One doesn't even have to be hooked into the Floo Network, so it's rather useful for getting around without attracting unnecessary levels of attention. Oh, dear, where are my manners? Can I offer you tea, coffee, any sort of refreshment?"
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 15:59, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
*Vetus shifts his grip on the metal rod in his hand, and a crack appears in the floor before him, from which gushes a clear fresh spring. He turns the rod ever so slightly and a glass zooms away from the wall and captures the flow, which then sinks back into the earth, with the same closing behind it. Vetus proffers the glass to his guest.* "As a man in your line will have deduced, my wand is an unique construct, and indeed the reason I asked you to come. May I call you Garrick? I find surnames - somewhat cumbersome. So, Garrick, I will happily pay any reasonable financial fee for your services, but I rather hoped that the information you will glean from the wand itself, and the knowledge I possess concerning your family's 2398 year bond with batons might supplement any perceived shortfall in the price."
Ollivander nodded. "Very well. It is of the experience, not of the gold, as they say. Would an expert be payed to look upon the magnificent work of a great artist? I daresay, however, that I am quite curious about the origins of this wand, and of course, the unique magical qualities it possesses."
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 21:54, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
"It comes, so far as - considerable research, let us say, on my part can ascertain, from the same batch of Adamantium which is the source of Perseus' sword, and encloses pure elemental essences, those being water, air, earth and fire in that precise sequence. It has, therefore, an utterly unrivalled elemental affinity, as you yourself witnessed from the behaviour of earth and water alike here in the cave just now. With my permission, you are most welcome to hold and peruse it without consequence, but without a living essence of any order, it has no loyalty to sway, and remains my servant, even in the hands of others,"
Ollivander examined it with a careful, fascinated eye. "The diameter is much larger than most wands I have seen..." He appears to be talking to himself more than Vetus. He put the wand to his ear. "I sense the elements working within, even without being used for magic they have movement... the making of this wand is almost terribly advanced, as though it were not from the mortal world, or perhaps of a more futuristic era. Yes, indeed, this is quite a wand. But the power... it has been stable with time, though there have been instances where it has grown weaker and stronger again... but never as weak as, for example, a wand of my own making. The opposite of dogwood in many respects... the Weasley twins would be the least likely to have been able to use this, most certainly. The loyalty is certainly different...." He looked up and seemed almost surprised to see Ventus still there. "So sorry, got a bit lost in my own thoughts," he said with a chuckle.
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 23:59, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
"The - tidal nature with regard to history as a whole is a most meet observation, but my desire to consult you springs also from the warnings it has issued of late. The wand itself allows, as it never has in my possession before, a single element, from time to time, to take over the wand entire, transmuting its form to that of the said element. It causes me no physical injury, but is disconcerting, to say the least. It suggests, I feel, that their harmonious coexistence is in jeopardy."
"Hmmm... have you noticed a pattern in which element takes over the others? Is there one, perhaps, that occurs more often than the others?"
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 00:39, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
*Contemplative.* "No, they have each - wait, I'm wrong. Air has occurred but once, each of the others twice, though none consecutively. The first was fire, which, as you may well imagine, came as something of a shock. The most recent was earth, two days ago."
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 05:15, October 23, 2012 (UTC)
*After his guests are gone, Vetus sits staring at the eggs amid the embers, his eyes sparkling in the firelight as he contemplates the possibilities.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 13:13, October 23, 2012 (UTC)
*He tilts his wand, and the earth flows and arcs over the firepit's very heart, enclosing the eggs in a sort of kiln. With another minor wrist movement, the outside section roars into flaming life, heating the new-formed kiln, and then banks once more to its usual, residual level. It might even be deduced, from the look on his face, that Vetus feels a little like a father, though there are, of course, no witnesses, and he has nothing to measure the sensation against.*
*Vetus goes into a corner and pulls out a long steel bar, some 6" in diameter, which he drops onto a section of the firepit. With a tilt of his wand the flames thunder and turn white in that section, and as he twirls his wand the metal dances into a ring, albeit one with a eight-foot circumference. He flicks his wand, and the ring leaps from the fire onto a suddenly protruding rocky outcrop on the wall, and hangs there.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 08:51, October 27, 2012 (UTC)
*Vetus places himself in the cavemouth, shooting red flares into the air every thirty seconds to guide Juliya back here.*
*She glides in effortlessly over his head, although he doesn't flinch in the slightest, and heads straight for the firepit. She makes an interrogative, and mildly threatening rumble on being unable to see her eggs.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 10:21, October 28, 2012 (UTC)
*Vetus inclines his wand, and the earth flows away from the eggs, revealing them, whole, hale and hearty.*
*The dragon is crooning in a concerned manner, and sending periodic bursts of flame out above the eggs to ensure they stay warm. She warbles happily at Sarah when she sees her, but just for once does not move to greet her.*
Vetus TenibrusAtreides -"What must be, will be." – 18:06, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
*Vetus tilts his wand and the air above the eggs thickens, visibly slowing the heat burst passing over them, keeping it in the vicinity for longer.*
