First of all, I see you've been working on your character, but don't have her sorted yet. First thing I would recommend would be to go to the Sorting forum, and fill out the short application. This allows us to know who's around, help get you involved etc. My next question is your character a student or adult? If they're a student, I would probably allow her to be a metamorhpmagi, but not a animagus until she gets trained, or goes through the class. We actually teach a class at Hogwarts on Animagi, and how to become one. IF you are already an adult, I might grant both, but you should know we have a strict 1 animagi character per user limit, and I would want to see that the character was capable of magically learning the advanced magic. I would like to see what you have planned for the character. Ministry? Hogwarts? Anyway, first get sorted, and put some basics abotu your character on her page, and we can go from there. I'm honestly pretty easy, and the metamorphmagi isn't a big issue, but the animagus might be. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know. Character Permission Edit

Yes, I'm fine giving you permission to have your character be both a metamorphmagi and an animagi. If you would like to take the class to learn the skill, I think it would be a good route, but if you just want to include learning in your nackstory somewhere, I'm good with that too. Also, I would like to have you as a Mythology Professor, and we do allow multiple professors to teach the same class (as I've had another user also asking for this position), and you'll just split the years, but as we're already halfway through the school year, I really don't want to begin the class now. I would rather wait and begin it during the next school year, if you're ok with that. It gives time to get things set up, and everything. Anyway, if you have any more questions, let me know. CategoriesEdit

The 'Places' tag is kind of redundant, ZRS, when somewhere is already in 'Locations', and I built the Rookery with only those areas with furniture labelled as 'Rooms' deliberately. It's great that you're looking around, however. :) Alex Jiskran 22:36, November 13, 2012 (UTC)

Two Things Edit

First off, new users can either create talk templates like the one you suggested to User:Vegivampa, or the more advanced (in my opinion) multi-bubble template like mine. Check out the code...all my character's bubbles are there. Secondly, when suggesting code and such, you can use the <nowiki> and </nowiki> tabs around code to keep it from executing, or the <pre> and </pre>ones which will give you this:

Put whatever you want here.

Hermione's QuartersEdit

The Professor_Hermione_Sofia_Zoe_Kathleen_Lily_Prince/My_Quarters_Over-view seems to suggest a very large area within the castle, particularly for someone who is not a Head of House or similar. There are likewise listed multiple offices which are not entirely clear to me, since no user has more than two, or I believe at absolute most three, teaching characters. The Professor is also simultaneously in a dozen different locations, which may get complicated to resolve if anything unpleasant happens in any of them. Alex Jiskran 22:54, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

Questions Edit

Hey, so I had a couple questions/worries about your character.

First off was her wand. On her page, you list it as dragon heartstring (gold and black, though the solors don't really matter). However, on the Ollivander's Wand Shop (Diagon Alley)#Hermione, you state your wand has 4 different cores. While having more than 1 core would be possible, it would make a fickle wand due to the duel nature of the cores vying for dominance. So, I would recommend you stick with just dragon heartstring, and change your post on Ollivanders.

Secondly, looking over your characters information, she has a lot of aliases or nicknames...why would she be called "Hades", "Apollo", "Athena" etc? Also, your title list seems rather long. As she's just graduated, she wouldn't be a master at most subjects, and having "Subject Mistress" listed makes it seem like she would have mastered the subject and would be qualified to teach it...which wouldn't be the case in most subjects at her age. You may pick 1 or 2 she's especially good at, but I ask you remove the rest.

Next is your backstory. It's well written, and quite tragic, but there are a lot of references to Canon Harry Potter characters, and in our DAW:CHP, we specifically spell out you cannot be related to any of these characters. To help keep the confusion about this down, could you please change the name of your sibling from "Quintus Severus Lucius Tobias Romulus Sirius Remus Snape" to something with no canon character's names, including nicknames in it, or at the most 1? There's really no reason to have canon names in his name, so it would help if it was changed.

Based on your parent's names, I would assume you're related to both the Malfoy's and the Black's? While that's ok, you would have to be distantly related to the Canon character's, and couldn't claim any of them as "close" relatives.

One other thing I noticed that will need to be changed is on your Professor Hermione Sofia Zoe Kathleen Lily Prince/My Quarters Over-view page. Your quaters at Hogwarts will not be that large or extravagant. Quaters basically are a single room, usually coupled with the teacher's office. A good example would be the Herbology Professor's Office. Also, you have "dead" links right now for your office, desk, detentions, lesson plans and homework. All those will be provided, in the standard format we have for teacher. For mine, see Detention:Transfiguration. Also, Mythology Professor's Office would be your office. However, you are welcome to keep the "quaters" you have set up as a personal residence, off the Hogwart's grounds. Finally, you cannot have a Room of Requirement....it is a unique room in Hogwarts that cannot be replicated. Also, Professor Hermione Sofia Zoe Kathleen Lily Prince/My Home seems to be nearly the same thing, so those two pages may need combining.

I know it seems like I'm asking a lot, and possibly asking you to change things about your character that you particularly enjoy or are excited about, however, I want you to know, that's not my intention. The policy/character things are so that character's aren't too overpowered to the point where others cannot compete or be on some sort of equal footing. In fact, you already have an advantage being both a metamorphmagi and animagi. I want your character to be unique and special, but not overpowered. The House/Home things are due to the fact that we try our best to stay as close to HP canon as we can, and you can't just add rooms to Hogwarts for magical reasons (which I can explain if you would like), and because there's really no need for all that.

Overall I like your ideas, and I love your energy. You seem to be doing lots of edits, and that's great. However, I want to remind you that the content of the edits is much more important than just getting a high edit count. Also, that you should be on equal footing with other users, not overpowered. You seem to have a lot of focus on being more powerful, or having overpowered things, and while that's not bad, on this wiki we do a lot more with Roleplay tie-ins, and though roleplaying than being magically powerful. A lot of people have more fun with their characters doing interesting things on the wiki, that being more powerful than everyone else. I just ask you keep that in mind as you edit and create new things.

Having said all that, I do want to emphasise that I greatly enjoy reading your writing, and that you have great ideas and energy. I've heard nothing but compliments about you, and even heard that you're a really nice person. I look forward to being able to say that from personal experience, and I want to encourage you to keep creating, and Roleplaying, and I'm sure you'll introduce great and unique things into the wiki that wouldn't occur if you weren't here. But, i must tell you, it would not be acceptable to have years split up with 4-7 because only 3-7 can join because its an elective.. If they do split up years, I would be happy to .. I would somewhat prefer that Alice get the higher years because her son is in them, but, ya know .. im not exactly caring at the moment. And for the club, it would be useful maybe to get us both working together on the club maybe? but at least both of us in on the club. I'm only hesitating, ZRS, because I'm in charge not by merit or decision, but only default, with several key personnel ill or absent for a variety of reasons. The apothecary sounds to me like a truly excellent idea, so long as you don't tread on the Alchemy Prof's turf without giving User:Bryans1008, who RPs Madam Blathnat, fair notice. I don't feel a shopkeeper like that should count against your two char limit for the first month, so I'll provisionally authorise it. I'd say, ZRS, do what Foot did for Florean Fortescue, and make a full char who is non-canon. He could have bought/inherited the place in the 17 years since Harry was around Hogwarts.
