Welcome to DARPEdit

Hi, Yugimuto1, most folks here call me Jisk, some Alex. The basics of character making, I hope, are here DAW:SUG. As for role-plays, well, at the moment we are approaching the end of a very long-running war in the wizard world, and voting for a new Minister for Magic, as the old one was kiled.

Apart from that, the school operates pretty much as normal for term time, with lots of classes being taught, and many people running their own RPs around the castle, and the village of Hogsmeade.

If you really want to get a feel for the place, I would recommend dropping in on Chat, seeing what people are talking about. Alex Jiskran 22:12, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

I think Jisk's explanation above covers the wiki pretty well. Unfortunately I cannot come on chat from where I currently am, but I would recommend looking at the Start-up guide, and seeing if you can grab someone in chat, though it tends to be empty this time of day. Sorting Edit

Welcome to Gryffindor!

Hello Yugimuto1, and welcome to the Dumbledore's Army Roleplay Wiki! I saw that you put your character in for Sorting, and you have been Sorted into Gryffindor. Congratulations! Now you can start making your character page. Create a new page with your character name by clicking this button: . It should be at the top right corner of your screen. Click the arrow and click 'Add a Page'. Choose the 'Blank Layout' and type your character name in the box. Make sure it's properly punctuated and it's exactly the way you want it.

Then you can start filling out your character page with information about your character. What does your character look like? What is his or her personality like? You can look at other character pages for ideas (i.e. Karith Black, Teresa Waters). Also make sure you add a Category for your House (Eg. [[Category:Gryffindor]]).

You can check out the starting guide for the next step. If you need any further help, send me a post on my talk page. You can also ask for help from anyone in the administration team.

Abel's new positionEdit

He can, with pleasure take part in Saturday's conflict. His title means he's responsible for the day-to-day running of the office in the Ministry. RE:Template Edit

Just picking Heads of Houses now. As for your template, you can't increase the picure size like you tried in it as it's hard coded into the template to be small so the template size isn't huge and takes up too much room on a page. However, the picture is also smaller because it's longer horizontally than vertically. You can edit the picture to make it a square which would help, and then re-upload it, or use a different template. Bond_em7 (Owl Me) 13:25, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

Good job on the template. Like I said, that's an option to change to a different template. There will be a staff meeting beginning tomorrow for all the teachers, and I'll post that tomorrow morning, or maybe I'll start it today just to get things rolling. If you create a new page, Yugimuto, you name it after your char, but the 'generic' subject professor's office must remain as and where it always was. If you want something special for Sylvia Bailey, you will need to create a new page. Alex Jiskran 03:04, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

Yugi, I thought you should know that the Locking Charm is a Spell that I am teaching to the fifth years thi year, and it may be a bit advanced for first years, especially since they have no experience with Charms. I would suggest changing it.

Class GLE's Edit

Here are the list of things you are suppose to cover in your charms classes! Vote: Class GLEs pt.1 You could always just cover the theory of the locking spell charm and just not teach the actual spell to them. Access Edit

Teachers have the password, and can go right in, along with some Ministry Officals who would be expected at the school. The Head Boy and Girl also have it for emergencies, but other than that, s tudent's don't have the password. The whole point is that they're supposed to go through their Heads of House first, and then the Head of House will bring it to the Headmaster if needed. Bond_em7 (Owl Me) 18:18, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Inactive usersEdit

I don't really have the time and energy to look up and chase all our inactive users, Yugimuto. I, at least, genreally put an 'Adoption' tag on a char, then go back a month or more later and, if nothing has happened, tag them for deletion. Alex Jiskran 15:28, April 9, 2013 (UTC)

Teaching CharmsEdit

Hey, Yugi. So first,the Hover Charm. What I would do is maybe teaching Wingardium Leviosa instead since they are very similar. This is what I did last year, and it worked well. As for the Cheering Charm, I would just teach the as normal, and when the students go to try it, they will just say something like, "She points her wand and casts the Cheering Charm." Alright? There is no point having one Archive per week for a course like DADA, Yugimuto, where so few people are posting each week. The whole school year will probably not require more than three, or at most four Archives, so long as the weeks are combined. Alex Jiskran

Actually I would prefer if you met with the HEad of your House as they will have your grades and spent much more time with you at Hogwarts than your mother.
