  • Head of Ravenclawok if all 4 houses are present
  • you will be responsible for relaying this information to your team
  • ok?
  • 2:37Echostarkk sounds good
  • 2:37Windsword7sounds good
  • 2:37PeislandgalOkay.
  • 2:37Head of RavenclawSo first, look at the last match.
  • 2:38Windsword7makes me want to barf
  • rules were broken as soon as the first post was up
  • 2:38Head of RavenclawYou have to make an attempt on everything you do.
  • 2:38Echostarnot coolio
  • 2:39Head of RavenclawOtherwise, it's godmodding.
  • 2:39PeislandgalThe first post didn't break any rule
  • 2:39Head of RavenclawIt's partially my fault, however, they shouldn't have started grabbing quaffles and hitting people the instant the match started
  • 2:40PeislandgalI don't see any godmodding. If you read they said they were ready to at the beggining. They also prepared to hit buldgers
  • 2:40Head of Ravenclawafter the quaffle was released
  • 2:40PeislandgalGregory Johnston through the quaffle first
  • 2:40Head of Ravenclaw" Greg would catch the quaffle and heads into the goal posts. He sees the Keeper of Gryffindor and hopes the quaffle goes through. He throwed the quaffle."
  • you cant just grab the quaffle
  • you need to make an attempt
  • 2:41PeislandgalThat was a few days later though. No one knew who had the quaffle
  • The teacher released it and said begin
  • 2:41Windsword7that doesnt signify go godmod all you want
  • 2:41Echostarthe problem with 'making an attempt' is that who decides whether they catch it or not? and how long will it take for the game master to reply?
  • 2:41PeislandgalThey need to specify which team gets the quaffle
  • Well in this game the GM didn't come till the end
  • 2:42Head of RavenclawThe Gamemaster decides, a user who is not on either teams side.
  • Peis I really didn't have a choice
  • Peislandgal has left Hogwarts.
  • 2:42Head of RavenclawYou guys took over the game.
  • 2:42Echostaris the gamemaster usually an admin?
  • 2:42Windsword7ok here is what im seeing here
  • 2:42Head of RavenclawSometiimes
  • Peislandgal has entered Hogwarts.
  • 2:42PeislandgalIf we had an active GM (no offense to Hor, we just need to make sure the Gm can be active first) these could have been determined
  • 2:42Windsword7HoR didnt show up when he was supposed to
  • he was away or something
  • circumstances happen
  • 2:42Head of RavenclawVacation
  • 2:43Windsword7and instead of waiting patiently for the game to begin
  • and be moderated
  • Peislandgal has left Hogwarts.
  • 2:43Windsword7you decided to take it into your own hands
  • 2:43Head of Ravenclaw^
  • 2:43Windsword7thereby causing mass chaos
  • Peislandgal has entered Hogwarts.
  • 2:43Head of RavenclawAnd by the time I got back, the G-modding was so far out of hand I really couldn't do anything.
  • 2:43PeislandgalI understand that. We need to check that before we start a game (if the gm can be active)
  • 2:43Echostarmaybe we should specify a certain time of day for the game to be played?
  • 2:44Head of Ravenclawwell
  • 2:44PeislandgalOr we need to put a time limit.
  • 2:44Head of RavenclawWe would need the participants on chat
  • No time limit
  • 2:44PeislandgalGames are on the weekend. They start friday and done by sunday
  • This way we can scheduale a GM who is free on that weekend
  • 2:45Head of RavenclawI was on a plane home that day, so I was gonna GM when i got home, but within the 12 hours I was gone the g-modding was way out of hand.
  • 2:45Echostardoes it have to take a whole weekend? can't it just be specified in an afternoon or even just an hour?
  • 2:45Windsword7trust me these matches take much longer than an hour
  • 2:45Head of Ravenclaw^
  • Sometimes they take a day to a week.
  • 2:46Windsword7look i realize your frustration with a lack of game master
  • 2:46Echostartrue...
  • 2:46Windsword7but as you so rudely told me when i first came onto chat Peis
  • people have lives outside the wiki
  • sometimes wiki commitments have to be broken
  • and if they are in the case of a quidditch match
  • 2:47Head of RavenclawYou have to be patient.
  • 2:47Windsword7you notify HoR about the match on his talk page
  • 2:47Head of Ravenclaw^
  • Not just on the match comments.
  • 2:47Windsword7you don't clutter up the comments with frantic worryings about where he is
  • or useless pre-game godmodding posts
  • that doesn't serve any purpose except to cause chaos
  • 2:47Head of RavenclawI don't receive emails on comments, its no use to try and contact me there.
  • ^^
  • 2:48PeislandgalThe thing was we didn't know who the game master was and all admins were away on vacation
  • These were new users playing. No one knew
  • 2:48Echostaris there usually only one game master or is there a bunch?
  • 2:48PeislandgalOne
  • 2:48Head of RavenclawWell the users should have been instructed by their captains.
  • OR
  • Read the blogs and forums like they are supposed to.
  • 2:49Windsword7Peis i think it was made pretty clear
  • that there would only ever be 3 GMs
  • Me, Bond, or HoR
  • 2:49PeislandgalYes but one for each game
  • 2:49Windsword7okay but in any case
  • 2:49Echostarthen maybe we all of you work as game masters for the games?
  • 2:49Windsword7you should have known that you would just owl one of us 3
  • 2:50Echostarlike for one game, all three of you could be the game masters
  • 2:50Head of Ravenclawthat wont work
  • 2:50Windsword7well that wouldnt work
  • because we are players as well
  • 2:50Echostarwhy not?
  • ohhhh gotcha
  • 2:50PeislandgalI still haven't reciveve responses from owls I sent to bond back in december. Hor told us he was away and I didn't want to bother him
  • 2:50Echostarhe's been inactive since the beginning of january
  • 2:50Windsword7ok so look Peis
  • heres an assumption you should have made
  • you are aware that the current GM can't be playing in that game correct?
  • 2:51PeislandgalHow is this falling onto me? and yes
  • 2:51Windsword7so then if gryffindor is playing in the match
  • 2:52Peislandgalyou can't be contacted
  • 2:52Windsword7it would have been fairly obvious that i would not be the GM
  • because i play for gryffindor
  • 2:52PeislandgalYes
  • 2:52Windsword7and so then if Bond is inactive
  • 2:52Peislandgalbut i can't contact Hor if he is on vacation and bond is inactive
  • 2:52Windsword7as seems to be common knowledge
  • it should have been quite obvious who you would contact
  • its a simple process of elimination
  • 2:53PeislandgalWell you weren't really playing for gryffindor, you didn't show up till the end. I didn't know if you were even active
  • 2:53Echostari've haven't played in a quidditch match yet
  • so i don't know all the ins and outs of it
  • 2:54Windsword7Peis...
  • if im playing seeker
  • why would i have posted before then?
  • 2:54PeislandgalYou should still post to say your at the game
  • 2:54Head of Ravenclawwhat? since when?
  • 2:54Windsword7since when has that ever been a rule
  • 2:54Peislandgalyou can't just appear out of nowhere to catch the snitch
  • it's not a rule i said you "should"
  • 2:55Echostarthis is getting us nowhere
  • 2:55Windsword7its assumed if you are a player on a team
  • that you are present at the match
  • 2:55Head of Ravenclaw^
  • 2:55Windsword7you don't have to randomly declare that you are there
  • 2:55PeislandgalOkay, but many are not
  • Look at Joise's bubble. It's not random
  • 2:55Windsword7well its made clear when the players post their respective actions
  • as a chaser, your actions came early in the game
  • as a seeker, mine came at the end
  • 2:56PeislandgalWell i couldn't do it as chaser if hufflepuff was still waiting for there goal to go through
  • 2:57Windsword7ok this pointing of fingers is getting us nowhere
  • there are a lot of people at fault for this
  • but thats not the important thing
  • 2:57Echostari just said that ^
  • 2:57Windsword7the important thing is making sure it doesn't happen again
  • 2:57PeislandgalIm not pointing fingers, Im trying to get some off of me
  • And agreed
  • 2:57Head of Ravenclawok well
  • what has happened happened
  • 2:57PeislandgalWe need to have active Gm's
  • 2:57Echostarnow we just need to change it
  • how active is active when it comes to gms?
  • 2:58Head of Ravenclawlisten
  • I was active
  • I was only gone 1 day
  • 2:58PeislandgalI know
  • 2:58Head of RavenclawI was on a plane ride home
  • Peislandgal has left Hogwarts.
  • 2:58Head of RavenclawIn that day, you don't take actions into your own hands.
  • You simply wait til I get home.
  • Peislandgal has entered Hogwarts.
  • 2:59PeislandgalIt was that mixed with the fact of new users
  • 2:59Head of RavenclawOk listen
  • Someone needs to instruct new users
  • However they aren't completely innconcent
  • 2:59PeislandgalMaybe we link at the top of each page, a link to rules.
  • 2:59Head of Ravenclawbecause when the signed up they were supposed to my blog and the forum
  • EACH PAGE?
  • No way
  • 3:00PeislandgalEach game page. Like the teacher that starts it can have a link to the rules in it's opening speech thing
  • 3:00Echostarin my opinion, either we need to enforce the rules of the game, make sure the game masters are more active, or completely reorganize the quidditch matches
  • 3:01PeislandgalWhere prof. jake threw the quaffle up. Have a link to rules there
  • 3:01Head of RavenclawLet me talk
  • When you sign up for quidditch
  • You are told
  • To read my blog and see the rule page
  • At least, that's what my team was supposed to do
  • And I'm pretty sure the other captains were told to tell there new users to do that as well
  • 3:03Echostari was never told to do that
  • 3:03PeislandgalNope
  • 3:03Windsword7so us captains are accountable for that
  • 3:04PeislandgalSlytherin Captain is inactive, haven't seen hufflepuff in a while either
  • 3:04Head of RavenclawPeis, I just saw hufflepuff captain 5 minutes ago
  • 3:04Windsword7and Calatina isn't inactive either
  • 3:04Head of Ravenclaw^
  • 3:04PeislandgalOh okay. I haven't seen him sorry
  • I haven't heard from Slytherin Captain yet. I tried out and then my name showed up on the roster so I assumed i was playing
  • 3:05Head of RavenclawThe Gmodding mainly came from hufflepuff
  • 3:05PeislandgalThey are new users. Not that it is an excuse
  • 3:05Head of RavenclawIt isn't
  • Because they were instructed on what to do
  • I told them
  • 3:06Windsword7wow thats very ironic Peis
  • 3:06Head of RavenclawBut the point is, it can't happen again.
  • 3:06Peislandgalwhy is that ironic
  • 3:06Echostarwhere are the rules? i've never seen them.
  • 3:06Windsword7you complained that gryffindor should get a penalty
  • and the snitch not count
  • because gryffindor was godmodding
  • when it was hufflepuff doing most of it
  • 3:08PeislandgalI never said that. I asked why the game was valid at all. The whole thing was godmodding. Both teams, but more hufflepuff was present
  • 3:08Echostarthis is difficult
  • 3:09Head of RavenclawAs for the quaffle, there will be 3 people: The Chaser, the Keeper, and the Gamemaster. The chaser calls where they shoot, the keeper calls how they try and block it, and the GM calls if they scored or not. Example: Chaser: Dylan flys really close to the hoop and aims for the center hoop. Dylan throws the quaffle. Keeper: Marcus sees the quaffle at the last second. He pours on speed and hopes to reach the quaffle in time. Marcus sticks his arm out, hoping for the best. GM: Marcus's arm just missed the quaffle, and the quaffle soared into the center hoop. This will eliminate the Godmodding/Bunnying that's been happening. For the Beaters, it will be similar. There's again 3 people: Team 1 Beater, Team 2 Beater, and the Gamemaster. Beater 1 calls how and where they hit the bludger, beater 2 calls how they respond to the oncoming bludger, and the Gamemaster calls what it hits, if anything. Example: Beater 1: Dylan hits the bludger at top speed towards Team 2 seeker. Beater 2: Marcus is really close to the bludger, so he swings his bat, trying to make contact. GM: Marcus hit the bludger. This makes the game fun. The GM will make the decision based on both players comments. This makes it fair. For the SEEKERS, the seeker will be doing somewhat the same, somewhat different. Again, there's 3 people: Team 1 Seeker, Team 2 Seeker, and the Gamemaster. The gamemaster will post a picture of the snitch somewhere on the page. Then, the first seeker to see the snitch will post a CREATIVE attempt to catch the snitch. Then, the other seeker posts a CREATIVE attempt to catch the snitch. If the GM finds both non-creative, the GM has two options: ONE: Let the snitch get away TWO: Let the seeker who posted first catch it. Same with if the GM finds both attempts creative. Obviously, first seeker to catch the snitch wins. However, if one seeker posts and another one doesn't post for 2-4 days, the seeker who first posted will catch the snitch.
  • READ IT
  • AlimAli has entered Hogwarts.
  • 3:09Windsword7the rules i created were clearly layed out
  • hey alim
  • 3:10Head of Ravenclawhi alim
  • 3:11Echostarhey alim
  • yes the rules are perfectly clear
  • 3:11PeislandgalYes. A link to this should be posted at the top of each game page. Team captains should send this link to members of there team, and Gm's should keep a close eye on new users.
  • 3:11Head of RavenclawPEIS!!!!
  • 3:11Peislandgalwhat?
  • 3:11Echostar?
  • 3:12Head of RavenclawThe point is, the users knew the rules.
  • I told them
  • It's their fault
  • No one elses
  • 3:12Peislandgali know. well you can't punish all the members who actually participate
  • 3:12Head of RavenclawI'm not punishing anyone
  • 3:12Peislandgalso this is what we do to get it to stop happening
  • 3:13Head of RavenclawBut it needs to be clear for the next match Feb 4
  • Ravenclaw VS Slytherin
  • 3:13Windsword7which I will be gming
  • just so we are clear on that
  • 3:13Peislandgalyes. so if we put links and have captain inform members who played in the first game (let them know that it was wrong) and have the gm keep a close eye on them to stop goddmodding from the start
  • then it can't happen
  • 3:14Windsword7the other thing is that users who KNOW the rules
  • have to step up and tell newer users that they are godmodding
  • 3:14Peislandgalyes
  • 3:14AlimAliOk I can do that!
  • 3:14Echostaragreed
  • 3:15AlimAliCan you tell me what godmodding is tho?
  • 3:15Peislandgali have to run. Sorry. Let me know how this meeting ends and any changes in rules please. Bye
  • Peislandgal has left Hogwarts.
  • 3:17Echostargodmodding is when your character does something that doesn't take into account any one else. for example: 'Ashley grabbed the Quaffle and, flying too fast for any one to catch her, throws it in the middle hoop and scores a point.'
  • 3:17Head of Ravenclaw^
  • Windsword7 has left Hogwarts.
  • 3:18Echostaris there anything else we can really do other then reinforce the rules?
  • 3:19AlimAliOk Ill do that and tell people they cant do dat
  • 3:19Head of RavenclawNo,
  • But believe me.
  • If this happens again, no one is gonna be very happy with me
  • I will temporarily suspend quidditch if this continues.
  • It would be better to go without it than to do it wrong
  • 3:20Echostarthere will always be the odd user who thinks they can break all the rules
  • 3:20Head of RavenclawSo this meeting is dismissed, Thank You for Coming
  • Well yah
  • And they will be punished individually
  • 3:20Echostarthat works for me
  • 3:20Head of RavenclawBut if it continues as a group, everyone pays.
  • Deal?
  • 3:21Echostarhow would anyone be punished exactly?
  • like would they be suspended?
  • 3:22Head of Ravenclawyup
  • So I think we are good.
  • 3:22Echostarthen deal
  • we're good
  • 3:22Head of RavenclawThanks for coming.

The above is a log of the Quidditch Meeting. Please read and comment.
