Acacia- difficult to match with a wizard, only the greatest wizards can use them
Alder- unusual to have, best for non-verbal spell work (Quirrel)
Applewood- unusual to have, best with powerful owners with high aims and ideals, possessor is well-loved and long-lived, owner has much charm and can often communicate with other magical beings in their native tongue
Ash- ought not to be passed on from the original owner because it will lose power and skill, especially with a unicorn hair core, owner is stubborn and courageous but not arrogant (Charlie Weasley, Cedric Diggory)
Aspen- best for charm work, owners are good duelists, strong-minded, and determined
Beech- best for very wise owners rich in understanding
Black Walnut- best for an owner with good instincts and powerful insight, but loses power if the owner practices any self-deception, one of the most loyal wands
Blackthorn- best for a warrior owner, linked by danger or hardship to the owner, one of the most loyal wands
Cedar- one of the most loyal wands, owners often have a strong character and can be frightening adversaries in battle

Elder- the rarest wand wood of all, best for superior owners with a special destiny, owners are best matched with rowan owners

Hawthorn- best for talented owners with complex and intriguing natures, best for healing magic and also curses (Draco Malfoy)
Hazel- reflects the owner's emotional state, best for an owner who understands and manages their feelings, so devoted to its owner that it often 'dies' with the owner especially with a unicorn hair core, emits smoke if passing over underground water
Holly- rare, best suited to owners with anger issues and a dangerous and often spiritual quest, very protective of the owner, difficult to team with phoenix feather but when teamed the owner is usually extremely dangerous to cross (Harry Potter, George Weasley)
Hornbeam- best suited to owners with a single pure passion, becomes personalized very quickly, refuses to perform acts that do not tally with their master's principles (Ollivander, Viktor Krum)
Larch- best for owners with hidden talents, often brings courage and confidence to the user

Rosewood- best for owners that are physically attractive
Rowan- best for clear-headed, pure-hearted owners who do not meddle with Dark magic, most protective of the owner in duels
Silver Lime- unusual, best for Seers and those skilled in Legilimency
Spruce- best for firm owners, owners often matched with bold spell-casters with a good sense of humor
Sycamore- best for curious, vital, and adventurous owners, bursts into flames if 'bored'
Vine- not as common, best suited to owners who seek a greater purpose, have a vision beyond the ordinary, frequently astound people, and have a personality with hidden depths, often emits magical effects when a potential owner is near
Walnut- best for highly intelligent owners who are often innovators and inventors, performs any task its owner desires without question
Willow- uncommon, best suited to owners with a little insecurity and of greatest potential, possesses incredible healing power (Lily Potter, Ron Weasley)
Yew- rare, best for powerful owners, often sprouts into a tree when buried with a previous owner
