He shook his head. "No. I agree that canceling a wedding the day before doesn't spell anything good. But what I'm saying is... maybe there's more going on than you think, and that maybe you shouldn't be quite so quick to point a finger in blame... and let him come to you."
She'd glower. "He's never come to me for anything Thomas. I mean...would you ever go to Charity? ...and how bad would it have to be for you to do that? I would prevent him even having to go through it if I could."
"I did. When Carmen left. When I felt I couldn't handle things." He sighed. "You... can't protect him from everything, Elle. And he is an adult." He paused, and then continued. "And investigating his fiancee comes across just.... a tad too far."
She'd frown. "I'll...think about it." She'd pause, then change the topic. "So...back to wedding plans. If we're going to do this in a month, we'll need to find a place. What else is on the priority list?"
She'd consider, then nod. "I do...but a simple white sundress or something might be better than a huge gown. Especially in the spring. Simple wildflowers and the like." She'd pause, studying him carefully. "...but of the two of us you're the one who's done this before. Is there anything from your last wedding you'd like to make sure we do...or anything you don't want to do as it would be too painful?"
He shrugged. "I know you just talked about how you're not really a girly girl... I suppose compared to Faith, when you lived together for so long... it felt like you were. You always got dressed up for our dates... you were always trying to get Faith to look nice. You frequently go out and party with your teammates... You used to try to help me plan big romantic gestures for Carmen back in the day. I guess I put all that together to mean... you would want a big spectacle of a wedding."
She'd nod slowly. "Well...compared to Faith just about anyone seems girly in comparison, and while I do put on makeup when I go out and like to look nice for dates, that's because that's what guys...you...like. I was trying to help Faith because she liked Dakota and I wanted her to have a fair shot and for him not to overlook her, because she's really an awesome person." She'd pause. "As for with Carmen...I tried to help you because that's what she needed...big romantic gestures. She..." She'd trail deciding not to talk about Carmen. She had no qualms with her, but didn't want Thomas to think she was criticizing her. "I mean...I want something more than for us to go sign a piece of paper or to just show up in t-shirts...I want it to be special and mean something...but it doesn't have to be a spectacle for it to be that. This is about us. You and me. It should be ours, and representative of us."
She'd smile slightly. "I know...and you come from that background. I feel more comfortable wearing it when I leave the house or want to look nice though." She'd smirk. "Besides, there's always nasty reporters lurking around looking for getting the worst possible pictures of you they can."
She'd chuckle. "I...hadn't really thought about that." She'd pause, growing a little serious. "Maybe...if we just keep it small and quiet...they won't know?" She'd sigh. "I really don't want to have to bother with anything like security at all."
"We could keep it little and small... somewhere else? Have some intimate destination wedding where they can't find us, or wouldn't expect us to go?" He asked, with a bit of a suggestive grin. The idea was serious... but he also did like the sound of it.
She'd consider that, then give a nod of acknowledgement. "We could. We'd have to communicate pretty quick if we wanted people to travel...and expect to spend some money to get people there. Maybe offer to pay for the transportation even."
"Portkeys aren't..." he let out a breath. "Aren't difficult to get and have done the correct way. Or, yes, we can help pay for transportation. I think most of my family wouldn't have an issue paying, but I'd be more than happy to help yours." He paused. "Maybe trains would be better. One of your parents is a Muggle, right? Can they take Portkeys?"
She'd nod. "Yeah, my Dad. I...don't think he's ever taken a portkey before. Trains could be an option if this destination wedding is somewhere close." She'd pause to consider. "...and I think we should either offer to pay for everyone...or let them all figure it out themselves if we do this so we don't show any favoritism or accidentally insult anyone."
She'd smile. "I'm sure it'll be magical enough. I just didn't know if you were thinking of a different...environment since you were talking about going elsewhere, like a beach or mountain top or something."
He shook his head. "Nope. We can still do a field of flowers... just somewhere else to get away from the press. And if we like the locale... we could even just get straight into the honeymoon when our family leaves."
"Elle, the longer it takes us to find somewhere... the less notice our families get. They have lives and jobs they can't necessarily just... drop everything, yknow? Unless you want to just... elope?" He paused. "I'm not trying to put off the wedding, Elle. I just... don't want it to be a burden on our families. And I'd like them to be there..."
"Or maybe like just a nice vest over a button down. Maybe roll our sleeves up. And I was planning on asking Mark, Ash, and Dakota. I would ask Aydan, too... but if things are awkward, I don't have to."
She'd nod slowly. She'd have to think about that then since she had just planned on asking Faith. "Well, I still plan on inviting him, Jenelle and Felix. If they decide not to come then that's on them, but I'm going to at least make the gesture."
She'd let out a sarcastic noise. "That makes you lucky. No...I didn't mean asking him to be a groomsman or anything...just inviting them to the wedding."
OOC: No...last time they talked her and Aubree weren't on good terms and Alyssa hasn't been around at all for so long that they basically don't talk. At this point I'm saying they worked out the past stuff, but aren't close and don't regularly see one another.
