BranGryffindor -"You've heard of bouncers? I'm the Splatter." – 21:48, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
*Bran comes up out of the trapdoor from the cellar and finds himself face-to-face with the little firecracker who was contemplating filleting her mum a few months back. Not an encounter he'll forget in a hurry.* "Ah. And what can I do for you, miss?"
BranGryffindor -"You've heard of bouncers? I'm the Splatter." – 21:59, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
*Bran's eyebrows rise, a far from indiscernible movement.* "What, you mean you're looking to bring your 'joie de vivre' and people person skills among us on a regular basis? The mind boggles. Sis! (Yelling into the cellar) Get up here! You've got another candidate. *To Morgan* "Her Ladyship will be with you presently. In the meantime, might I offer some slight refreshment - on the house, of course?"
BranGryffindor -"You've heard of bouncers? I'm the Splatter." – 22:11, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
*Bran remembers another Slytherin girl with a determined scowl to hide other, less 'suitable', qualities, and speaks gently.* "Well, to me, as I'm sure you've gathered, she's 'Sis', to the world at large it's 'Jenny', and if you're seriously looking to work here 'Ms. Thompson' might not be a bad place to start."
JennySlytherin -"What can I get you?" – 22:52, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
*Jenny laughs too.* "Been there, got the passport stamp, but he's really not that bad. Anyway - I'm Jenny, by the way - if you are going to work here, and we could certainly use another willing pair of hands, you'll have to get used to him, as he's part of the furniture. Now, if I remember rightly, you were a Slytherin like me, but you'll need to leave that behind, at least to a degree, as we serve all sorts in here. Besides which, he was a Gryffindor - mind you, I always said he didn't have the brains for Slytherin, or even Ravenclaw, and the school would have gone bankrupt if they'd been fool enough to leave him loose next to the pantries, so not much other choice, I reckon."
JennySlytherin -"What can I get you?" – 20:56, December 20, 2012 (UTC)
"What can I get for you, miss?"
JennySlytherin -"What can I get you?" – 08:07, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
"Well, we could certainly use an extra pair of hands most evenings. Do you have any experience, bartending, I mean?"
JennySlytherin -"What can I get you?" – 21:47, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
*Smiling as the girl's self-assurance.* "Good to know, but it shouldn't be. The man-mountain back there handles trouble-makers . . . two under each arm on occasion. Bran, get yourself over here and meet - Lily, wasn't it? She's gonna be helping out around here."
BranGryffindor -"You've heard of bouncers? I'm the Splatter." – 21:54, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
*Bran takes a long moment to make a thorough assessment of Lilly, then grins as he sticks out his hand.* "Looks like she can handle herself as well as you, short stuff. I shall have to mind me Ps and Qs."
"Because they blamed me for a girl's murder...and threw me in there for life. The Minister believed I didn't do it and let me out, but now that he's gone..." He would grab another shot off the tray and down it too.
He would whip around, faster that expected, his wand pointed an inch from Draco's face. After a tense moment he would lower it. "Don't do that Draco...you'll get hexed for surprising someone like that someday." He would think back to what Draco had asked. "Apparently his faith was misplaced or I wouldn't have let him die in Italy."
*There is a thundercrack as Draco slaps Karith. The voice that follows is rigid with self-control.* "You didn't let him down, his number was up. He made a career of playing the ultimate form of Russian Roulette, and we had the misfortune to be around when the law of averages finally caught up with him. He sent you away, remember? You didn't desert your post, you completed your mission. You found Ormond, when no one else could. And one success had him send you - again - where he could bring himself to go, to see the wounded in all their horrific glory. And so, a mongrel got him. But Ormond didn't, and Stroemberg neither, and let's face it, both of those were 50/50 shots, worse given his mental state. He wanted to take down Ormond, and he did. Now it's up to us to finish the job and bring down Kaiser. So, how long were you planning to mope and wallow?"
He would turn his face back to Draco slowly, rage filling his face...but after a moment it would drain away, and he would stand his full imposing height, eyes narrowing at Draco. His fist would clench, then release with an obvious effort. He would slide past Draco, and walk out of the bar, seeming completely sober despite the large amout of alcohol he had consumed.
*The starch goes out of his spine and voice.* "Let's bloody well hope so, 'cos we need him to be. He can grieve when it's all over, and torture himself with 'what ifs', but we at the Ministry are still in a war, and like it or not, he's one of our brightest and best."
"Faris had three bodyguards, one's running Special Ops, one's the Interim Head of MLE, Magical Law Enforcement, sorry, and he's the third. He was with the Minister 24/7 for the last three months, so, I reckon, yeah, he may have all sort of info and abilities we're going to need."
"Not to rain on your parade, sweetheart, but would you really rather, with all that's loose in the world at the moment, that half the Ministry was propping up tables in here, instead of at their desks? Business'll pick up, when the stormclouds disperse, and they will. Trust me."
*So caught up in thoughts of Karith, he hadn't noticed the slip.* "Never crossed my mind. I just - oh, hell, I'm running for Minister, and if I'm not careful I'm going to end up lying to myself. I'm worried too, I just thought - you seemed concerned about Karith, beyond the payment issue, I mean (slight grin) and Iwas, I dunno, trying to lighten the mood?"
"Of course, but - well, let's say I have my reasons, among them that, as Deputy Head for the Auror Section, I've seen everything that crosses my boss's desk, and have a far more realistic idea than most of what we're up against. Plus which, I kept in contact with various Old Durmstrangers, and they paint a rather different picture of Kaiser and her environment than official channels. I'm not sure the other two will do whatever it takes to win, and I fear our leader my well be faced with that non-choice."
*Blows out cheeks.* "I don't exactly know. *Throws up a hand at the looks she gives.* Honest! Look, it's too long a story for your ten minute break. What say we go out and get a Chinese or something, when you finish your shift? My treat."
*For the first time, Draco acknowledges to himself that he really is in over his head, since his instinct is not to laugh, but to look for a Time-Turner so that her bad moment never happens-ed. Instead, he tries to find a section on the rim where the foam won't make him splutter, and takes a long draught, whilst he considers what his next move should be.*
"Slowly and sporadically, to tell the truth. We're nowhere near as organised as I'd like, and I spend far too much time thinking about you. *He leans in to peck her on the cheek.* So, how have you been?"
BranGryffindor -"You've heard of bouncers? I'm the Splatter." – 19:46, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
*The lass looks like she has it under control,so Bran drifts off to wipe down tables.*
"We're based out of Krakow, in the south of Poland, but I don't exactly spend my days stuck behind a desk. I've probably seen far less of Krakow than I have of St. Petersburg, Berlin, Naples, Rome and Moscow. We're trying to get a sense of what the wizarding communities in these places want and need, but people are, understandably, reluctant to say much after what they've just been through. Most of my old Durmstrang contacts have gone to ground, whether there's direct evidence they were working with Kaiser or not, and I've ended up having to reach out to former WHPS members back here, just so that we get a full and realistic picture, before we go suggesting, or worse imposing, solutions that don't fit."
*He shrugs, allowing his hand to end up on the table only inches from hers.* "To be honest, we're still in what they call the 'recon' phase - the situation in many areas is even worse than we expected." *He pauses, considering numerous possibilities, then opts for simple truth.* "I miss you."
