She glares--not at the healer--and mutters under her breath, "Not when my idiot ex had my wand for safekeeping." She leans down and pulls her pant leg up past the end of her stump. "Ta-da," she says a little bitterly. Beyond some scarring, it looks about as normal as it can.
She'd pull out her wand and slowly and methodically run it up and down the stump, chanting softly the whole time. After a few minute's she'd stop. "Well, the infection is gone, but you've got some nerve damage from it...might be a blessing in disguise since it probably helped with the pain, but it'll mean we can't reattach the leg since it wouldn't work right anyway without having to reattach and regrow all the nerves which would take a long time."
She'd nod. "Normally we'd suggest a magical replacement...a limb made purely of magic, but with the nerves how they are operating such a limb would probably not work well. Of course you could feel free to try it on your own...but I give such a procedure only a small chance of success."
She'd look apologetic. "At this point all I can really recommend is a traditional prosthetic. Of course you would be able to enchant it or modify it how you'd like...it could look nearly like a real leg or like a pirate's peg leg or..." She'd shrug. "Whatever you'd like to transfigure it into really."
"We'll measure your other leg to get the right general size and shape for it, then order it. It'll take a couple weeks to be manufactured, and we can have it sent to wherever you'd like." She'd hesitate. "...because of how far up the injury is you'll have to use straps to attach it to your upper leg. Most injuries like this we try to leave the knee if possible because it's complexity and motions are hard to replicate. You'll have to practice a lot with it, and we recommend you do physical therapy so you learn to use it to the best of your ability. With the knee being gone it'll feel a lot like you're falling with each step you take until you're used to it. Also...I'm sure you know medical prosthetics like this aren't generally cheap. It'll take a lot of time and effort to get there."
She'd nod. "Well then, let me get the measurements, and then you can go. I'll get the paperwork and everything taken care of...and of course if you have any questions you can owl me or feel free to come in and ask."

"Bring him in here," she said, gesturing to a bed. "What happened to him?"
She'd have an unhappy look on her face, levitating Thomas along. "Got tackled by a jerk muggle and cracked his head pretty good on the ground. I know I could have fixed the cut easily enough...but since it's his head..." She'd trail off looking worried.

She'd frown, gently running her hand through the hair on his forehead. "I'm the one who's past bad decisions got us in here tonight." She'd pause knowing he would argue or say it wasn't her fault. "Rest...I promise I'll still be here when you wake up."
She'd nod. "Yeah...but I've got some mental fortitude from being an auror...I'll be ok. I realize I'll need to...process everything, but I think I'm ok..." She'd pause, then smile. "...and if I need some mental help I know a great head healer."

She nodded. "I've seen more than one Auror in here with mental breakdowns because they bottled everything for too long." She gave Elle a final smile before exiting the room.
