This, unsurprisingly, is a room with very thick walls, custom carved out of the rocks to be the place where the ka-boom would literally have to be earth-shattering to be a real problem. However, we can combine the functional with the aesthetic, and generation upon generation of Hogwarts students have added to the decor here, until you'd never know you were underground.

She was in here, with the ingredients for a love potion sitting in front of her. The cauldron was heating, her sleeves rolled up and she was clearly concentrating more than normal.

*She gave the classroom a wide berth, but there's no reason she can't - rats, somebody ... Oh, it's C.* "Hi, C. Oh, *giggle* I just got that."
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 22:10, September 17, 2017 (UTC)~
She cocked her head when she saw Ariana, but there was an amused grin on her face. "Hey, Ari. What's up?"
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 22:21, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
*She tries to swing her satchel casually, causing the very heavy cauldron in it to nail her in the back of the knee and almost take her legs out from under her. Recover gracelessly, but in the nick of time, she takes a couple of deep breaths before formulating a response.* "Well, I've been steering clear of that Ravenclaw goit, but it suddenly struck me that, around here at any rate, who knows who'll be running Potions next year, I might want to take the NEWT and it'd be good to keep my hand in." *Over the last couple of sentences, she begins decanting various implements and ingredients from her bag.*
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 22:26, September 17, 2017 (UTC)~
She nodded. "So, let me see if I can translate that... you dislike Professor Willard, but you could be taking a NEWT in Potions so you're here to... practice?" She rolled her eyes. "We were doing love potion theory in class... so I figured I'd just try to do it practically."
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 22:31, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
*She makes a face, clearly one of considerable practice.* "More Mum's fascinated by the idea of a 'Potioneer' in the family, since it's the one bit of magic she reckons she could help me with, so I can't go back with less than half a dozen new permutations to show her, and at least the semblance of attendance in class."
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 22:33, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
She chuckled. "Bummer for you." She grinned. "Is she the kind of Mum who would want to bond over Love Potions? Or would she not really get those?"
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 22:40, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
*Are you serious? Open up the endless can of tubeworms that is my non-existent lovelife around my already stressed-out mother? Why don't I just hit her with Petrificus Totalus and have done?"
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 22:42, September 17, 2017 (UTC)~
She snorted. "Alright, sorry. Didn't know she was already pining for grandchildren or... whatever it is that has her stressed."
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 22:49, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
*She blows off a loud breath.* "Sorry, you couldn't know. Seems none of us thought to tell Mum that Arthur and Alden not only leave school but are full legal adults in the wizarding world - in a matter of weeks. Somehow, it never came up, or at least Mum didn't register it. So she's quietly freaking out about her boys being loose in the big, bad world, determined not to show it to them, of course, and clamping down on me to the best of her ability to overcompensate. Yeah, 'Attaway Alert at 11'. Should've told you before, but ... felt like ... well, honestly, I wasn't sure what it'd achieve."
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 22:54, September 17, 2017 (UTC)~
She nodded. "You'll have the whole house to yourself though, once they go. There's a perk," she said with a grin.
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 22:59, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
*Again, the uni-shrug half surfaces.* "They haven't even said they are, but, well, Mum had no idea they could, so ..." *It trails off.*
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 23:02, September 17, 2017 (UTC)~
She frowned. "They're just going to live at home?"
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 23:04, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
"Who knows? They stopped telling me stuff of significance years ago. No, that wasn't a dig, honest. I just meant - well, we're in the same House here and there, but ... it doesn't seem to mean much."
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 23:05, September 17, 2017 (UTC)~
"Does that... bug you?"
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 23:27, September 17, 2017 (UTC)
*Again, the shoulder rises momentarily.* "No more than ever. I guess, we're not a close family, not in any significant sense. We just have a surname, and a retreat in common."
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 23:28, September 17, 2017 (UTC)~
She nodded. "Mine's the same way," she said, heating up her cauldron.
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 00:03, September 18, 2017 (UTC)
"D'you reckon it's the same for Muggles, or does magic make us ... sharper rivals?"
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 00:04, September 18, 2017 (UTC)~
She shrugged. "I... dunno. I'd have to ask a Muggle-born," she said with a chuckle.
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 09:20, September 18, 2017 (UTC)
"I was talking about real Muggles, the kind with no magic or knowledge of it in their lives. They have a term 'humdrum', and that kind of sums it up, the droning sound, the almost shapeless bumps of the letters, it's drabness in dull clothing. When you deal with, or even actively ignore, magic, I just - don't think that happens, that's all."
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 20:47, September 18, 2017 (UTC)~
She nodded slowly. "I suppose. Or they find... sparkle in something else."
AriGryffindor Sixth -"You've got to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative." – 09:37, September 19, 2017 (UTC)
*She's working hard not to sound sarky as her internal tensions rise.* "I didn't mean - I'm not saying they - look, it's not like Muggles can't, don't do stuff, you know, fun, significant, whatever. I just, kinda ... well, look, when anything is possible, which with magic is almost literally the case, how do you not feel as though you let something really valuable slip through your fingers?"
Clara DavidsonSlytherin Alumna -- – 00:07, September 20, 2017 (UTC)
"How do you know you've let something really valuable slip when you don't even know it exists in the first place?"
In all her time here, she'd really come to like this room. It seemed very few people knew about it, much to her surprise

Blake was just as depressive as she was the day after Hestia left and was just wondering around the school, ending up in the Potion-Mixing Room, without notcing Alex was there.
She'd been mixing a potion when Blake walked in, it took her a minute to realise who it was before she gave her a small smile deciding against calling out, after all they'd only met that one time, it wasn't as if they were best friends
