She wouldn't have noticed the panther until it was too late if it wasn't for her puppy beginning to squirm inside the pocket of her jacket, having spied it. She glanced down towards it, her hand moving to take it out, to calm it, but the movement allowed her to spy the panther out of the corner of her eye. Her hand hovered for a moment before she scooped the small, grey animal out. The panther was obviously not in its natural habitat and she didn't think there was a zoo nearby for it to escape from. Perhaps a transport vehicle had crashed nearby. Having dropped the book, which had fell into the well, her hand went to her other pocket, where her wand rested.
