Lance is a complete and utter idiot, but he prefers the term 'joker'. He loves to mess around and have some fun, even if it gets him in trouble sometimes. If you ever need someone to have a good time with - Lance is your guy. He is the life of the party (or at least, he thinks he is), and he is also pretty much the best friend you will ever have. He's loyal and caring, and he's not afraid to show it. He'd go to the ends of the earth for you and back. That's just the person Lance is.

Despite his confident apearance, he's also very insecure of himself. With his rocky past, it is easy for him to take things to heart or be overly sensitive. Because he cares so much, he wears his heart on his sleeve. He's extremely self-conscious about his sexuality due to John, and isn't very open about being homosexual. Lance gets homesick really easy, and some days he'll get all down because he misses his family.

Overall, Lance is pretty great, but he does have his flaws. He can get hot-headed sometimes and is very argumentative. Not only does he think he's always right, but he's also very competitive. He loves sports and games, but beware if you are his opponent. He never goes easy on anyone - even kids - unless your Ben, of course. He always lets Ben win, but he'd never let his kid brother know that.

Lance McClain Matthews was born in Austin, Texas to Rosa and John Matthews on March 10. He was the third kid of a total of seven children - first was Daniel, then Maria, and then of course, Lance. Not a year after Lance, came Ben, and next came Cleo. A while down the road after they assumed there'd be no more siblings, Matt came along, followed by Rosie three years later. Needless to say, it was a strugle for attention in their family; however, their whole family was a lot closer than most. Growing up, Lance was the closest to Ben. They were practically twins despite their year difference in age. Whatever Lance did, Ben would do without hesitation. They were the jokers of the family, always bringing laughs and smiles. They were also the trouble-makers of the Matthews, always making messes and playing pranks. But that all changed when Ben was diagnosed with Leukemia.

It was a hard blow for the family, but especially for Lance. Instead of going to the park to hang out with his friends, he'd be found in the hospital room with his kid brother listening to music or playing games. He never left the boy's side. As Ben's condition continued to worsen, Rosa and John sought out the best doctors that they could afford. They were eventually told of an affordable doctor in England who could help them with Ben's treatments. And so, the whole Matthews family moved from Texas all the way to London, England.

It was pretty much a culture shock. Lance lost his childhood home and any remaining friends he had in America, but to him, it was worth it if they could help his brother. Luckily enough, Ben fought hard to battle his Leukemia with the help of this new doctor. After a lot of treatment, he was discharged to be with his family. He was still fighting, but he could at least attempt to have a somewhat normal life now. And so could Lance.

By now, Lance was ten years old, playing football for his school, and making new friends everyday. He seemed to finally be a normal kid again - only this time, in London. However, his average life started taking a turn.

Every now and then, his siblings would play pranks on him (after Lance had pranked them, of course), and full on prank wars would erupt. Anyone who pranked him would wake up with their bed in the yard or with their hair turned neon pink. However, when Rosa would look for the hair dye or John would try to figure how a ten year old had lifted a twin bed, they always came up empty handed. Lance's parents started to worry about their son and these unusual occurances - and they weren't the only ones.

Dion Parker, Lance's football coach, recognized right away that Lance was a wizard - he knew because he was one himself. He decided to explain to the family that Lance was special and he knew a place that specialized in helping kids like Lance. That place being Hogwarts. With Dion's help, Lance adapted to the wizarding world and eventually enrolled at Hogwarts when he turned eleven. Though hesitant at first, Lance learned to love the magical school and even make some friends along the way.

As if moving to a new country, dealing with Ben, and finding out he was a wizard wasn't enough on his plate - he began questioning his sexuality in his third year. Instead of girls, he realized he was more attracted to his same gender. At first he just thought it was just a phase or a lapse of judgement, but Lance figured out that he was hella gay. He was reluctant to tell his family and decided to tell them he was bisexual (as if that would lessen the blow). Rosa not only accepted him, but loved him even more just because he decided to tell her. He was a Mama's Boy to begin with, but even more so now. His siblings welcomed him too, not caring who he liked - some a bit easier than others. His dad, however, didn't want to believe it and hoped everyday that Lance would find a girl he liked.

Lance is now in his fifth year and is pretty confident with who he is - at least he tries to be. John still hasn't warmed up to the idea of a gay son, but Lance is slowly coming to terms with that fact. He can't please everybody. He's still the fun-loving kid he was despite everything, and now he's just looking for an adventure - and maybe someone to share it with.

Rosa Matthews Mother "She is literally the most amazing woman I've ever met. She has the biggest heart, but if you make her mad, you better run. No one messes with Rosa Maria Sanchez Matthews and gets away with it."
Ben Matthews Brother/Best Friend "He's an idiot. But so am I. We get along great. I love him. Ten out of ten. Just kidding more like, 6/10, but don't tell him."
Daniel and Matt Matthews Brothers "Daniel is the perfect son, which means he's a goody-two-shoes; but he cares about his family and I love him I guess. Matt is a turd, and he's too cute for his own good. But again, I love him too."
Maria, Cleo, and Rosie Matthews Sisters "Maria is a little crazy, but she's super fun. Cleo is my second favorite sibling (don't tell the others), and she knows how to have a good time. She's like super smart too - I'm proud of her. Rosie's the baby - she doesn't do much, but she's cute."
