He casted a spell to copy the notes from the board into his notebook, then cast another spell to raise the letters. He ran his finger over the ingredients, then headed to the cupboards to get what he needed.
"An excellent and significant question again. Place the cap on the chopping board with the gills facing you, and slice smoothly and carefully between the gills from the centre out to the margin. The school stocks of bursting mushrooms are not particularly fresh or powerful, so the worst that can happen is a noisy pop and a bit of mess. As for the stem, don't make your first cut dramatic, and try to keep the pressure firm but constant."

He followed the Professor's instructions and firmly sliced the mushrooms as efficiently as possible... and in the process... sliced his own finger pretty good. He winced and looked around for some way to fix it...

He shrugged. "Thanks. That'll work for now, I guess..." He had at least sliced the mushrooms. He tossed them in the cauldron and started stirring with his non-injured hand.

Until the potion turns blue... until the potion turns green.... He followed the instructions the Professor had given, creating strips of the mushroom and slicing the stem firmly. He did his best to make sure the cuts were evenly spaced without cutting himself. He added the mushrooms and stirred four times clockwise. "Is the potion the right color?" he murmured to Henry.

With potions in the past, he had depended mostly on smell to tell him when it was time to stop stirring. But with colors, he was completely lost. He tried to keep time with Henry, listening to him as he added his own ingredients, but he wasn't confident at all about his end result. He labeled his potion and set it with the others, thinking that he'd have to visit this new Headmaster to figure this out.
