She leant against the desk, her arms crossed over her chest, wearing this
, as she waited for the (really small) people to file in. She'd forgotten how tiny eleven year olds were. First off, she did attendance before anything else or she knew it'd slip her mind. "Welcome, welcome to your first year at Hogwarts," she then said with a bright smile, her hands now resting on the table, "I'm Professor Van Der Hoek, or Etta if you prefer, and your Charms professor for the year ahead. If you need anything, whether it be course work or anything else, you can find me here or in my office, which is just down the hall." She thinks. She still has to take a few minutes to remember which door it is. Behind her, a piece of chalk had flew up to write her name under the quote. "Now as fun and entertaining as this class might be, it still needs to be taken seriously and you need to work for a good grade. Of course, I'll help you as much as I can, give you extra credit if I think you need it, but I can't do the work for you. That is up to you. Nor will I nag you. Your own study is your own responsibility. I will help you but I will not force you." She hesitated, hoping to let this sink in, and was ignoring her twisting stomach. "Now, I suppose seeing as this is your first class and year, some might not be aware due to inexperience–" she wasn't going to say muggle-born "–would someone be kind enough to explain what this class covers. Basically, what 'Charms' is?"
