Bradley CarterGryffindor Graduate -Flying Professor – 00:42, October 23, 2017 (UTC)
He waited outside for the first years to assemble. There were broomsticks lying on the ground, evenly spaced for a student to step up next to it, lying in three rows. When all the first years had found a broomstick, Bradley smiled. "Welcome, first years, to Hogwarts. My name is Professor Carter. Now that you've all found your broomstick, let's get started. Place your wand hand over your broomstick and firmly command your broom by saying up."

She's still a little subdued in contrast to her typically happy aura, not pleased at all with her house. But she's wearing Slytherin green nonetheless, and is glaring at her broom with her right hand extended over it. "Up!"

Anne was a little bit nervous about flying lessons. She startled and shakingly held out her wand and yelled, "Up!"

From a place closely beside Anne she looks down at the broom cautiously. It doesn't seem like it's going to be that easy. She puts her wand hand out and over the broom like everyone else. Then she screamed at it. "UP!"
"WHY DOMINANT HAND?" The purple letters are, due to lack of available surfaces, struck out magically on the grass in front of Carter. The brunette stares at the professor, her writing hand still outstretched and curved inward. With the sun bearing down on her face, she has to lower her eyelids.
Charlotte's broomstick rolls over in the grass. Anne's broomstick feebly raises a few inches off the ground before falling back down. River's broomstick doesn't budge.

She knew it wasn't going to be easy but she was a little angry nothing at all happened. She furrowed her brow and thrust her wand hand out over the broom again. Her voice much more firm a smidgen more confident she shouted at the broom again. "UP!"

Anne knew she hadn't done it fully right at first, but was still happy by her little accomplishment of it at least being a bit raised. She starts imagining the broom being raised at the same time as she proudly yells, "Up!"

Steering once the thing is in flight that's too advanced for him. He still has to master learning to command the broom and get it off the ground. He puts his hand hand out over the broom handle and imagines it soaring straight up into his open palm. He stares down at the broom and says the incantation as clearly and confidently as he can. "Up!"
River's broom snaps up into her outstretched hand. Anne's broom leaps up into her outstretched hand. Charlotte's broomstick lifts nearly to her hand, quivers like it wants to be in her hand before falling back into the grass. IG's broom snaps up vertically very nearly thwacking her in the face before it slams back down on the ground. Vaughn's broom lifts about a foot into the air before heading back down to the ground.

He nods in approval to those who have successfully commanded their brooms. "If you've managed, good. Mount the broom, and grip the end-- you don't want to go sliding off once you're in the air. Kick off the ground and hover in the air for a few moments while you learn to find your balance-- do not go any higher than three feet in the air." He addresses those who are still working. "With feeling, and with visualization. That broom can tell if you want your feet on the ground."

His face lights up when he sees the broom move there's a big smile on his face because he thinks he's done it. When the boom goes in the opposite direction his smile fades away. He fixes his gaze on the broom again paying no attention to anyone else. He's much more determined this time. After being so close he knows what he wants to see and imagines the broom rising right back up like it had before only this time not stopping until it his his hand. "Up!"

She looks at the Professor excitedly and hops on her broom. In her excitement she's forgotten what three feet is but stays low until flying a broomstick feels comfortable.
Vaughn's broom snaps up into his outstretched hand. River's broom raises much higher initially. She goes almost 7 feet in the air, and she wobbles dangerously until she comes back down to feel comfortable, resting at about 4 feet.

He nodded to River. "Brooms will feed off excitement. They aren't sentient, exactly... but the magic in them works with emotions and visualization... just like any other magic."

He finally feels like he's at the same level as everyone else. At least his broom is doing what broomsticks are supposed to do. He mounts it carefully and locks his knees together not wanting to fall off the front, back or sides. He treats this first time flying like he does swimming, He keeps the big toe on each foot close to the ground for safety.

She had watched River on the broom for a second before getting on hers. Once she got on she closed her eyes and concentrated on staying at a certain level. She suddenly out of nowhere giggled a bit at herself on a broom.

Zooming off to nearly seven feet was thrill not unlike a roller coaster for River. It was scary for about three seconds before she was ready to do it again. She tired to have little bit more self control although restraining herself was hard she still couldn't drop below four feet.
Serena holds her right hand over the broomstick on the ground and defiantly says, "Up!" trying her best to will it to lift itself onto her hand. She's never done this before, despite coming from a family known for manufacturing broomsticks. She's seen her older siblings do it before, though, so at least she has a reference for how it's done.
OOC: Sorry I'm late >.<

He waited for the class to assemble. "Welcome back everyone. You all did well last class. Today we're going to get more into the techniques of what makes a good flyer-- changing speeds, feeling wind currents... changing directions. That kind of thing. So if you'd all mount your brooms..." He waited until everyone had and was hovering in the air. "I want everyone to feel the air... what way is the wind pushing you?"
OOC: For the sake of moving on, we're going to say everyone last class was successful in mounting their broomstick.
Serena is bad at directions, and wouldn't naturally know which wind is blowing which way. She currently has her eyes closed, concentrating hard and trying to figure it out. "I'm feeling east...or no, is it west? North maybe? ....argh!" She mutters to herself, slightly upset.
Bradley CarterGryffindor Graduate -Flying Professor – 17:12, November 13, 2017 (UTC)
"It's a western wind," he said. "Do you feel how you're all drifting slightly to the left?" He waved his wand and golden hoops appeared three feet higher, and about six feet in front of them. There were 4 hoops, spaced six feet apart. "Why don't you try flying through those?"
River Fox Ravenclaw -First Year ღ RQT Keeper ღ Often Overlooked – 07:29, November 14, 2017 (UTC)
She got herself a little head start leaving as soon as the professor said 'try' pretended like she wasn't about to guess a wrong Northwestern wind as she zoomed off toward the hoops.

He takes flight at a slow pace gradually building up speed as he rises higher into the air to make sure he can clear the hoops once he's gotten close enough.
