don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars.

The Open-Ended Questions

A. Please answer the following questions as elaborately as possible. (Remember, this part is only a requirement for your third to fifteenth character! However, if you want to have more input on where you character is sorted, then please answer #6!)

1) What would you consider to be your character's strengths, and your character's weaknesses? Elaborate on your answer.

Romeo's strength is his compassion. Once he gets emotionally attatched to someone, he will go to great lengths to protect them no matter what. He will remain loyal through thick and thin despite the consequences.

His weakness is his stubborness He doesn't like being wrong and won't admit to defeat easily. Even when he knows he is wrong, he will persist until he has the last word. His inability to give in is also apparant in his own view of himself. He has convinced himself that he is a hopeless cause and no one could possibly save him, despite knowing deep down this isn't true.

2) What goals and objectives has your character set out in their life? Is it to be successful and rich? Is it to find happiness? Why?

Romeo wants power. Simple as that. Due to past experiences, he has come to the conclusion that the only way to keep himself from ever suffering or getting hurt again is by obtaining ultimate power. This way he'll be able to control everything that happens to him.

3) What's their ideal way of spending a free day? Why so?

Romeo's ideal free day consists of himself, a cigarette, and the soft rumble of rain clouds. He enjoys being left alone with his own thoughts, despite how pervasive they can be sometimes. It is his way of escaping from reality, even if it is just for a little while. He knows that smoking is technically bad for him, but the bitter taste helps him forget about all his troubles, past or recent, and simply live in the moment.

4) If your character could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be? Why?

1. The six pack of Diet Pepsis he keeps under his bed. Romeo cannot go a single day without one. Whenever he is running low, he uses a refilling charm to he will never run out.

2. His favorite cassette, "The Chopin Album". Romeo loves classical music, particularly from the Romantic Period and his absolute favorite composer is Fredéric Chopin.

3. The walkman cassette player he snagged from one of his previous foster families. How else would be be able to listen to his favorite album?

4. A pack of Lucky Strike cigarettes. Although he doesn't smoke too often as he doesn't want to get caught, he would not be able to go more than three days without one. He is very neurotic about having them on him at all times.

5. His wand. How could any wizard live without it? He feels defenseless without it. Without his wand, Romeo can become extremely paranoid about something bad happening and not being able to do anything.

5) What one thing would your character change about the wizarding society? Why?

There isn't one thing in particular Romeo would like to change about the society itself, really- I mean, other than gaining full control by any means possible

6) What house does your character want to be in? What house does your character not want to be in? Why?

Romeo doesn't have a particular preference.

The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or Humble? Anything about your character that might help the Sorting Hat decide. (Don't worry, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, personality must be at least one paragraph long for the first two characters, two paragraphs long for the third to eighth characters, and three paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth!)

"I feel that being a smartass is my duty. The pay sucks, but the work is very rewarding."

Romeo is stubborn, sarcastic, and outspoken. He is firm in his beliefs and isn't swayed easily. He won't take shit from anyone and isn't afraid to tell you off. While he tends to create enemies with his arrogant nature, he can also be appealing when he wants to with his uncanny charisma. Romeo is quite the charmer from his model-like looks to his to die for French accent. Some would say he's the whole package.

Romeo is quite the curious teenager and tends to care more than he gives off. If something or someone catches his eye, he will immediately set out on a mental quest to uncover its secrets. While Romeo is your typical badass, he is extremely passionate. If anything he loves is being threatened, he will go to all lengths to protect it. Romeo would risk his own life to save someone he cares for's in an instant.

He is extremely neurotic. It is no surprise that his rough past has taken a toll on him. He is currently taking medication for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Bipolar disorder- or at least that's what he convinces his uncle. He doesn't like taking his medications regularly as they make him feel tired, depressed, and sometimes naseous. It is evident in his behavior when he doesn't take his medicine as he can become extremely explosive, anxious, and obtain an overall aggressive nature.

Romeo generally doesn't take a liking towards who he considers to be 'stupid people'. With intelligence comes arrogance, as some would say. Romeo is extremely smart and has a wide variety of knowledge having been taught skills beyond his years at home by his uncle. While he is no where near knowing everything, is ahead to the point he easily breezes through his classes at Hogwarts and often gets good grades without putting in half the amount of effort his classmates have. He takes pride in his IQ and tends to come off as arrogant and rude with his constant need to correct people and prove them wrong.

"No, I'm not insulting you. I'm describing you."

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc. (Again, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, history must at least be two paragraphs long for the first two characters, three paragraphs long for the third to eighth character, and four paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth character!)

"The story of me? Well, that's one for the books.

I'll set the scene. It all begins in the rustic, 21st century inner city of Paris, France, the city of love. 22-year-old model and Ravenclaw dropout Émilie Delacroix is out for a drink in a less than sanitary, ramshackle bar after yet another modeling job rejection. In comes Matthieu Baptiste, successful entrepreneur, desperately in need of a drink to help ease the stress of the business world. As any classic chick flick would go, the dynamic duo clicked the moment he offered to buy her a drink. Some would say it was love at first sight, but I belive that all sad stories have a happy beginning. The French couple began dating after unofficially 'seeing each other' for several months, naturally. Émile's career sky-rocketed form her partner's success, which was a given. Things seem to be going well for the young model. So well that she ignores how he never says 'I love you' back, or that he always comes home with the smell of another woman's perfume on him. All that matters to the naive French girl is that she loves him. It is no secret to anyone looking from the outside that Émile is caught up in a toxic relationship. Yes, Matthieu cares for her, but as their relationship progresses and her feelings grow stronger, his only fade farther and farther out of reach. It isn't until I come into the picture that Émile will finally realize what an unhealthy relationship she got herself into.

After 6 months of dating, one week of morning sickness, and three positive pregnancy tests, Émile is ecstatic to inform her boyfriend of the good news- she thinks it will be a new start for the both of them. Well, it is a new start all right, just not in the way she planned. Matthieu is less than thrilled. He had been planning on breaking things off with her soon, so naturally the news of a child doesn't particularly excite him. Without a regard for the wellbeing of his soon-to-be-born child, he flees without looking back. Émilie is devestated, to say the least. She had never imagined having to raise a child on her own, yet she foolishly decides to push through and raise her baby on her own. Her child is the only thing Émile had left of Matthieu. She is still wrapped around his finger- pathetic, I know. Being pregnant is the easiest part of the process for her, believe it or not. It isn't until after I, Romeo Jean Delacroix, enter the world that she realizes how much she really commited to. Émile does her best to provide for her baby boy. This proves to be extremely difficult as the best job she can land having lost her model look after giving birth is as a barista and waitress.

This is when her twin brother and my uncle, Hugo, decides to fly back to his hometown in Brignoles to help his sister raise her child. He is well aware that Émile didn't exactly have a clean record when it comes to making good decisions having gotten in trouble with drinking and doing drugs before meeting Matthieu. Hugo is there to watch over me while Émile is out late working double shifts for both her sake and mine. She lands a few good paying jobs and things seem to be going well for the first time in forever. Due to her vigorous work schedule, Hugo pretty much raises me for a long while. He talks to his young nephew about the Wizarding World, being a graduate of Hogwarts himself. After showing his first sign of magic by unintentionally exploding a pillow thrown at him by his uncle, young Romeo is taught to control his abilities by Hugo. Life is great. By the time I was six going on seven years old, Émile is able to convince Uncle Hugo she can manage on her own having gotten promoted from a waitress to the assistant manager of a small but successful restaurant. Hugo reluctantly leaves his sister and nephew to return back to his home in New York City. At this point in his life, young Romeo is going to Muggle school regularly, using the bus for transportation as his mother is often too busy to give him a ride. The first few months without Uncle Hugo are good. Émile fixes her son breakfast and lucn in the morning and then goes to work, comes home at five to make dinner, and then goes out again for her night shift. They have a system, and it seems to work. All is well until one of the restaurants Émile works at gets shut down, forcing her to get the only available job she could find as a barista. From there, everything goes downhill. It starts out innocent at first. Only a drink or two when she has time off at the bar. Émile isn't too much of a lightweight, so it isn't a problem, that is until two drinks become four and four become six. As with anyone of human nature, it doesn't take long for Émile to become addicted to having alcohol in her system. She begins staying out later than usual, sometimes coming home in the early hours of the morning. She uses the money Hugo left her with to hire a nanny to take care of Romeo until he goes to bed almost every night. It gets to the point that Émile rarely even sees her son and, when she does, is too wasted or hungover to acknowledge him. Young Romeo feels utterly neglected. He feels like his mother couldn't care less for him. He begins to think of himself as nothing more than a burden to her.

I can still remember one night in particular. One night that I haven't talked about since it occured nine years ago.

Young Romeo wakes up to the slam of a door- his mother is piss drunk. Émile usually does a better job of covering it up and remaining somewhat quiet when she returns home, but this night is different. The helpless mother was only thinking of her previous lover as she drank, for what reason is long forgotten by now. She wallos in her own self-pity contemplating why he would leave her when it hits her. If she didn't become pregnant with her Romeo, he wouldn't have left. Meanwhile, her unknowing son softly pads down the stairs to investigate the loud noise, only to be greeted with his angry and sad beyond measure mother.

He can still remember it vividly. His mother shouting and screaming over and over again, "it's your fault, it's all your fault". He is paralyzed with fear, tears streaming down his face. He has no idea what to do. Young Romeo takes a step backwards slowly in an attempt to escape his crazed mother, but she will not have it. The drunken mother chucks the beer bottle in her hand at her helpless son. Young Romeo narrowly dodges the flying bottle with a screa. He runs upstairs to his room, cutting himself on the broken shards in the process. He locks himself in his room before limping to the connecting bathroom to pull out the shards of glass. The poor boy cries himself to sleep that night, the sound of his mother's wails haunting him.

He refuses to tell anyone in fear of getting his mother in trouble. He is young and vulnerable, afraid to be separated from his mother despite how terribly she treats him. Young Romeo decides he will find a way to help his mother and med their relationship, but it is too late. He comes home from school one afternoon a few weeks after the incident to find his mother completely limp on the ground, no life in her now dead eyes and an empty bottle of pills in her hand. Orphaned and devastated, young Romeo is sent to live with Uncle Hugo and his new girlfriend, Aunt Georgia, in their home in New York. Despite how hard they try to provide him with a completely normal life, they know he will never be the same. He has been hit hard by his mother's death- who wouldn't be when you know it was your fault? It is his fault his mother killed herself. It is his fault she took her own life.

For months on end Hugo and Georgia try again and again to get their nephew to open up, but their efforts are made in vain. At this point young Romeo is far too emotionally damaged to let anyone else into his life. The only time he will speak to either of them is when they are schooling him. He is getting accepted into multiple wizarding schools at this point having just turned 11, but Hugo and Georgia don't see him fit to go away without anyone watching over him despite his protests. All the young boy wants is to escape his past life, but his uncle didn't understand this. Instead, Hugo decides to homseschool young Romeo and teach him everything he needs to know about magic. His schooling grows to be the only thing Romeo enjoys in life. He finds himself to be most at ease with a quill in his left hand and a book of spells in front of him. THe young boy enjoys learning so much that he begins usint it as a form of coping. He begins to pull ahead of most wizards his age and studies more and more advanced beyond his years material everday. It progresses to the point that Hugo no longer knows what else to teach him. His uncle decides the only the he can possibly keep his nephew occupied is by enrolling him in a Muggle school as well. Not only will it teach him a wider range of skill sets, but it might also expose him to the social environment full of kids his age he has been avoiding for years.

Now 14 years old, Romeo is doing fairly well in school, both at home and in the Muggle world. In Hugo's eyes, his nephew is getting better and better each day emotionally. He begins making friends and often comes home later than usual due to all the extracurriculars he is signed up for. What his uncle fails to see is the lies spilling out of his mouth. Little does Hugo know the 'extracurriculars' are really after school cigarette breaks. And that all the times Romeo goes to play video games and eat pizza with his friends he is actually performing less than legal acts. Yet, he gets away with it until he is finally caught by Georgia in their backyard so high he can't walk straight. Disappointed in both their nephew and themselves, Hugo and Georgia set Romeo up with a school counseler and no longer let him go anywhere but school and home. Their efforts fail however as he completely ignores and works around their 'rules'. He often storms out of the house depsite their attempts to stop him. He sneaks out after everyone has fallen asleep to get drunk at one of the many Friday night parties his friends host. It isn't until Romeo is arrested for vandalism and underage drinking that Hugo decides his reckless behavior has finally crossed the line. His uncle makes the executive decision to send Romeo to Hogwarts which will hopefully tame his bad habits and turn him into the innocent child full of wonder and curiosity he used to be. Yet, he is too ignorant to see that child along with his hopes and dreams died years and years ago, even before the tragic death of his mother.

And, well, that's how I came to be. Tragic, huh? I'm sure you'd think so- but the way I see it, things could've been worse. But here I am now, screwed up past and all, ready as ever to face the world."
