The Open-Ended Questions

A. Please answer the following questions as elaborately as possible. (Remember, this part is only a requirement for your third to fifteenth character!)

1) What would you consider to be your character's strengths, and your character's weaknesses? Elaborate on your answer.

Natalie's greatest strength would be probably be her perserverance. She's driven to finish any task she puts her mind to, even if it challenges her a lot. She'll do what she can to accomplish her goals.  Her weakness would be her lack of experience in life and social skills. She was kept away from most social situations when she was younger, so she now finds it difficult to navigate her way through many of her interactions.

2) What goals and objectives has your character set out in their life? Is it to be successful and rich? Is it to find happiness? Why?

Currently, Natalie's main goal is just to live life to the fullest. She spent 11 years be sheltered by her parents, so now she just wants to be able to see as much as she can, especially now that there's a brand new world open to her.

3) What's their ideal way of spending a free day? Why so?

Natalie's ideal way of spending free time would be to either explore Hogwarts and try to find something new or in the library trying to learn more about the wizarding world so she doesn't feel less than her peers because she doesn't know anything.

4) If your character could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be? Why?

The five possesions that Natalie would keep would be her childhood stuffed bear, a necklace given to her by her mother, a family picture, her wand, and her Hogwarts letter. THe first three she would want to keep to remind her of her family and where she came from, even if it may not have been the best. Her wand because it was the first thing she recieved in the magical world so it has special meaning to her. Finally, her hogwarts letter because this is what finally set her free from her prison and set her on the path to enjoying life and seeing what there was in the world to explore. Without this letter, she would've been trapped.

5) What one thing would your character change about the wizarding society? Why?

One thing that Natalie would want to change would be trying to provide a better transition for Muggle-Born students. After recieve her letter, she felt that she was thrown into the school way too fast, not really knowing what was going.. She believes that Muggle-Borns should be told much earlier that they had magic, giving them more time to adjust, as well as providing better resources to these students.

6) What house does your character want to be in? What house does your character not want to be in? Why? Natalie doesn't really have one house that she would or would not like to be in. She can see pros and cons for each one. She thinks she would fit in with Gryffindors best, however, due to their adventurous nature, as well as them pushing her out of her comfort zone.

The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or Humble? Anything about your character that might help the Sorting Hat decide. (Don't worry, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, personality must be at least one paragraph long for the first two characters, two paragraphs long for the third to eighth characters, and three paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth!) Growing up as an only child in a very sheltered family has had a pretty big effect on Natalie's personality. She tries to be as outgoing as possible, though she doesn't quite have the social skills to do so. She often comes off as awkward, making it hard for her to make friends initially, but she pushes through, doing her best to better her social skills.

One of Natalie's strongest characteristics is her perseverance. No matter the task, Natalie will do her best to see it through to the end, no matter how challenging it may. Though she finds many things difficult, even the simplest of tasks, she won't give up, wanting to put her best foot forward at all times.

Natalie also had a very curious nature. Coming from a completely different world, everything magical is absolutely fascinating to her. She wants to be able to learn all that she can about so many different types of magic, as well as exploring her new home. She's constantly seeking an adventure to have, hoping to gain some sort of new knowledge from it. Unfortunately, along with this curiosity, Natalie is also very gullible. Growing up sheltered didn't allow her to be exposed to what is out in the world. especially not in the magic world. Since she wants to know so much and has very little prior knowledge, she often believes what she's told without a second thought. People wouldn't lie to her, right?

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc. (Again, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, history must at least be two paragraphs long for the first two characters, three paragraphs long for the third to eighth character, and four paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth character!) Natalie's parents, Alvin and Theresa, met while studying at university. Shortly after getting married, the two opened up their own law firm, wanting to represent people that couldn't afford legal fees. In order to put focus on their business, the two held off on trying to have children for another 6 years. When the time finally came for them to start trying for kids, they faced many issues. After trying for about a year with no luck, they turned towards fertility treatments, hoping it would increase their chances. Almost another year passed by before anything happened. Then they got the news they had been hoping to hear for years. They were going to be having a baby girl. On July 1, 2017, Natalie Anne Barton was born in Belfast, Ireland.

Being raised as an only child and being seen by her parents as their precious gift, Natalie grew up living a very sheltered life. Her parents never let her go anywhere alone, always having to be accompanied by one of them. She found it had to make any friends always having her parents around. Anytime she tried to ask them if she could go out and play, they always told her no, keeping her locked in the house. After all the trouble her parents went through to have her, they didn't want anything to happen to her, not realizing how damaging they were actually being. She struggled knowing how to act in social situations since she hadn't had much experience to do so. The only time she ever really saw anyone besides her parents, was when she was at school.  When Natalie was about 9 years old, her first signs of magic started to show. Mostly, it happened in subtle ways that she didn't notice at first. Her parents kept almost every door and window locked, keeping the keys with them them, but Natalie was always able to open these whenever she wanted to get out, never having problems with them being locked. Other small things started happening, like the color of her clothes randomly changing and small objects breaking when she got angry. The day a woman from a school called Hogwarts arrived at her home changed her life forever. She told Natalie that she was a witch and that she had been accepted into a school full of other witches and wizards just like her. At first, Natalie didn't believe this woman at all. How could any of this have been possible? She didn't think for a second that magic could be possible. With the help of the woman, Natalie and her parent's eventually accepted the fact that Natalie could be a witch and that magic was possible. Though her parents accepted the fact that Natalie had magic, they refused to let her go to the school. They sent away the woman, saying that their daughter would not be attending. They couldn't let their only child leave them for so long. Natalie's heart broke. She wanted to be able be free from the house and get to know people that were like her..She just wanted an adventure. She decided that she would be attending the school, no matter what her parents said. She sent the woman a letter saying she would be attending Hogwarts. For the next month, Natalie slowly began gathering the supplies she needed, knowing she wouldn't be able to get all of it. When they time came, she left her parents a note, telling them that she had gone to the school and that she wouldn't be back until they let her start living her life. She made her way to the train and started her biggest adventure. Now in her third year, Natalie is still trying to get the hang of the magical world. She's curious about everything Hogwarts has to offer, wanting to get as much out of her experience as possible.

Is he or she of a different magical race, such as Veela, Vampire, Werewolf or the like? Part or half of that magical race counts! (Remember, you cannot have a character with special abilities/of a different magical race as one of your first two characters!) None

6) What year is your character in? 3rd
