The curves of your lips rewrite history. 00:14, July 9, 2016 (UTC)

1) Give a history of your character. History must be at least two paragraphs long. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc.

Gabriel's poor mother didn't expect to get knocked up so early in life, but there she was at eighteen years old, pregnant with a child after a fumble in the dark with her then-boyfriend. A German Muggle who lived on the border of her country, Helena had barely finished her exams when the news came. Of course, her boyfriend freaked at the news and was out of her life before she could blink, leaving her alone to raise her son, so, with a few hundred Euros in her pocket and a glint of determination in her eyes, she hiked it across the border and made herself a new life in the tiny town of Sélestat, France. Gabriel thinks this is where his love of backpacking comes from.
Fortunately, she didn't have to go more than six months as a single mum. Unfortunately, the guy she shacked up with was a complete arsehole, in Gabriel's eyes. Being a toddler, he couldn't protest much besides cry whenever the man got hold of him, but it was clear to little Gabriel from the start that the man who was to marry his mother and become his new dad was a nasty piece of work. His childhood, as free and adventurous as it was, always had a looming profile-shaped shadow standing over it, watching and critiquing everything Gabriel did. They fought often, over petty things, and Helena could only watch helplessly from the sidelines with the hope that one day they'd sort their differences out; of course, they didn't, and his step-father was one of the main factors of Gabriel being kicked out.
The whole magic thing reared its head up when Gabriel was about ten years old. Nobody has any idea where his magical blood comes from - he's tried tracking his family tree and it's Muggles as far as the eye can see - but it's there in his veins, giving him the powers that got him into this mess. When his first signs of magic appeared, they materialised in the form of completely obliterating the kitchen in search of a video game disc; when his two Muggle parents came across the scene, they didn't believe Gabriel's claims that "he didn't mean to do it" and "he didn't know how he did it" and "he didn't actually touch anything" - they simply grounded him and hoped he'd calm down.
More signs of magic came through the year, growing in strength until it ended with Gabriel unintentionally sending a shelf full of books down onto his cat's tail. On the eve of his eleventh birthday, a letter sailed in through the window, written in delicate blue ink with impeccable handwriting, summoning him to the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. His parents, who had become increasingly more scared of their son and his abilities, dismissed the letter, assuming it was one of Gabriel's little pranks. They couldn't deny its credibility when three more came the next day, carried by owls and delivered right into Helena's lap.
Reluctantly, they sent Gabriel off to school, shivering at the thought that their son was magic. Gabriel, on the other hand, couldn't be happier - this was a whole new world for him to explore, and for a young kid with big dreams and a sense of adventure, it was utopia.
His curiosity, however, was ultimately his downfall. You see, for the chosen magical being of his family, Gabriel isn't very good at magic. He was the kid at school whose potions always blew up or poisoned someone. But a trip down Knockturn Alley at the age of sixteen brought another new world to Gabriel's doorstep: the world of dark magic. There isn't an evil bone in Gabriel's body, and anyone who knows him could tell you that, but immediately he was hooked. Before he knew it, he was up to his neck in books that teemed with dark spells and potion recipes and the history of evil artefacts. In his defence, Gabriel never actually practised any of these; it was purely a research hobby he enveloped himself in. However, when his mother came across these books in his bedroom whilst searching for some lost items, things took a turn for the worst.
Helena and Bruno were already terrified of their magical son, but upon the discovery that he might also be into dark magic, that was the final straw. Despite Helena's reluctance to disown her child, Bruno won her round, and before he could blink, Gabriel was not only disowned of the family name but was thrown out onto the streets and told to go and live with "those other freaks of yours". A youth hostel took him in, and after a summer spent getting covered in tattoos and soothing the burn of rejection with as much partying as possible, he proceeded to drop out of Beauxbatons towards the end of his sixth year. Magic was never really his forte.
And the rest is history, really. Since then, Gabriel has been travelling the world over, working odd jobs here and there to raise enough money to fill his car with petrol and move to the next country and start all over again. Settling down isn't on his to-do list anytime soon, and nor is returning back to his parents, so he plans to move his way across the continents and have the time on his life. There are no strings on him anymore, and he loves it.

2) Give a description of your character's personality. Personality must be at least one paragraph long. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or humble?

Gabriel is very much your "live life on the edge because at any moment you might die" type of person at front; his constant moving around and getting tattoos and experimenting with anything he sees is further proof of this. Seeing as he doesn't know how long he's going to be on this earth - it could be nine more years or ninety - he has no intention of wasting his time. Of course, things could be a little more stable than they are right now, but on the other hand, his lack of ties allows him to be as fluid as he wants. Borders are nothing to him and his backpack.
This attitude makes Gabriel the ultimate risk-taker and a complete "yes man". Unless there's some sort of responsibility holding him back - a rare occurrence - he'll suggest the wackiest things, as spontaneity is his middle name. He is ridiculously upbeat, permanently sky-high on caffeine, and overall just bouncy; sometimes to the irritating length, as his non-stop babbling has the tendency to drive many people up the wall, but there's no denying that he can and will always find something to talk about before he lets any conversation die prematurely. What he talks about varies on his setting - trust me, he can seriously charm it up when he wants to. It's almost impressive how quickly he can go from incessantly picking apart the weather to giving a running commentary on a book he's reading to charming up the waitress (or waiter) to try and get some money off his meal (he's a total slut, by the way). A day with Gabriel is never dull, and things will never stop moving.
Despite his claims are fierce independence, and honestly, he is - how else could he have survived travelling the world alone without going mad? -, Gabriel latches onto other people like they're his life force. People are everything to him, as is companionship, because he's lonely. Fuck, he's lonely, so Gabriel tries to be the friendliest person he can be because losing people again is his worst fear. This means that he gets attached to people super easily, and will more than likely go crawling back to them even if they treat him like shit. He's like a leech when he loves someone; so don't leave him. At least not without any decent explanation, as Gabriel has a habit of blaming himself for any little thing going wrong.
He's a kid at heart, probably because his childhood was cut short so he's trying to make up for it now, so actual maturity is somewhat difficult for him; as is dealing with emotional situations. Getting disowned wore him out completely, and it was and still is the most serious that his emotional range allows him to go. Ugh, drama. (He loves it).
Long story short, he really doesn't give a fuck anymore. Now he's alone, and roaming free without any strings and ties, he's realised just how short life is, and how boring it can potentially be if one doesn't do anything with it. So, naturally, he wants to make the most of his life before he perishes and is swiftly forgotten.
The whole 'dark magic' debacle is a stain on his history, and he'll do his best to tread more carefully in the future now he knows what the consequences of being caught are, but he'd never have experimented if he wasn't interested in it. Dark magic is a part of him, and he can't deny that. He's not going to turn into an evil overlord or anything, but hey, thrills need satisfying every now and again.
