The Open-Ended Questions

A. Please answer the following questions as elaborately as possible. (Remember, this part is only a requirement for your third to fifteenth character! However, if you want to have more input on where you character is sorted, then please answer #6!)

1) What would you consider to be your character's strengths, and your character's weaknesses? Elaborate on your answer.

2) What goals and objectives has your character set out in their life? Is it to be successful and rich? Is it to find happiness? Why?

3) What's their ideal way of spending a free day? Why so?

4) If your character could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be? Why?

5) What one thing would your character change about the wizarding society? Why?

6) What house does your character want to be in? What house does your character not want to be in? Why? Farris wants to be sorted into Hufflepuff, as it was the primary house of his family. He also has most qualities of a Hufflepuff, often putting others before him. He does not want to be in any of the other houses so he doesn't disappoint his parents, though Gryffindor he is fine with,

The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or Humble? Anything about your character that might help the Sorting Hat decide. (Don't worry, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, personality must be at least one paragraph long for the first two characters, two paragraphs long for the third to eighth characters, and three paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth!) Farris is a unique individual full of passion and charisma, though other people's feelings and thoughts haunt him more than his own. He often puts others before him, thinking 'What would they prefer?' rather than 'What would I prefer?'. He takes a lot of pride and joy in guiding others to success or helping them. Unafraid to stand up for others or himself, Farris has his signature seemingly altruistic gaze. Like an unstoppable current unaffected by ripples, Farris is fluent, finding it easy to talk and communicate with others. Farris also has the quality of seeing people's motivations easily, often bringing together his friends as the 'middle man' (mutual friend).

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc. (Again, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, history must at least be two paragraphs long for the first two characters, three paragraphs long for the third to eighth character, and four paragraphs long for the ninth to the fifteenth character!) Farris's father hails from a rich, renowned pureblood Hufflepuff family (One of the few in the world). Farris's mother was a financially unstable auror when her future husband met her while she was seizing a former Death Eater.  A lot of members in Farris's family work as social workers, in the ministry, or wand makers as his family also has a reputation for housing gifted wandmakers. The fifth oldest in his generation, Farris inherited a finely crafted wand that had not adapted for generations, eventually landing in his hands. After his two older siblings and three older cousins graduated from Hogwarts, he was sent off to graduate himself. Among his siblings, he was the quickest to show magical abilities with the age of 7. Interested in healing magic and charmwork, his school years were relatively easy for him, though some subjects (Potions, Transfiguration) were particularly challenging.

3) Write about your character's appearance. What do they look like? Are you planning on using a certain model for your character? If you already have a picture in mind, you can put it here! (FC: Dane Dehaan) Unlike his brothers and sisters, Farris has dirty blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, not the typical sandy blond hair and chocolate brown eyes that ran in his family. He often has tired eyes, staying up most nights to either study or let his mind wander. Jackets and scarves are his everyday wear, even if it's not cold outside.

4) Is your character a Pure-Blood, Half-Blood or Muggle-Born? Do you have any notable magical relations? (Remember, you cannot be related to important Harry Potter characters!) Farris Langley hails from a pureblood family. He also has a brother that attends Hogwarts.

5) Does your character have any special magical abilities? Or special abilities in general (photographic memory, etc.)? Is he or she of a different magical race, such as Veela, Vampire, Werewolf or the like? Part or half of that magical race counts! (Remember, you cannot have a character with special abilities/of a different magical race as one of your first two characters!) Farris does not have any special abilities, though he is exceptionally skilled in charmwork.

6) What year is your character in? 6

OOC Questions

C. These do not affect what house you're sorted to, but everybody must answer them!

1) Is this your first character?

A. This is my first character.
B. No, this is not my first character.

2) If your answer to the previous question is B, how many characters do you have? How many of them are "exotic" (of a different magical race/have a special ability)?

For history, I was wondering if you could include maybe one more paragraph? Some things to include in the history is how his parents met, the type of childhood he had, what age he first showed signs of magic (mandatory) and maybe even his first few years of education at Hogwarts.

Hufflepuff crest The Sorting Hat has placed Farris Langley into Hufflepuff!

"You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil."
