Dexter was born to a Muggle-Born witch and Half-Blood wizard on January 1, 2016 in the center of London. His older brother, who was two at the time of Dexter's birth, was beyond excited to have another brother, though he didn't really know what that entailed. He began to grow more and more irritated with his brother, since he wasn't receiving as much attention as he used to get. Zane declared Dexter his enemy and refused to talk or play with him until his parents sent Dex back where he came from. Zane dropped his, however, once his brother got older and realized that he was actually a fun person to play with. Their relationship grew even stronger when they had to band together against their new enemy, their sister.
Shortly before Dexter's fourth birthday, Autumn Burke joined the world, forcing her old brothers to spend much more time together. Autumn was born 2 months early with a severe case of pneumonia, which kept her and the Burke parents are the hospital for several months. For the majority of the time, Chance and Dexter stayed with their grandmother, only getting short visits from their parents, as their attention was clearly elsewhere. After about four months, Autumn was finally released form the hospital, and the Burke brothers were finally able to be reunited with their parents. Both of them secretly resented their sister for keeping their family apart, refusing to have an sort of interaction with her, instead spending the majority of their time with each other. During this time, the two brothers started to grow incredibly close, sealing their life long friendship into place. After about a year, Chance and Dexter lifted their boycott of their sister, starting to love the little turd that she was becoming.
While his life at home was going very well, Dexter's life at his elementary school was a little rough. He was beyond excited to get to meet all of these brand new people to become friends with. However, once he got to school, things didn't got like he expected. When he got into his classroom, he had to introduced himself, but when he said his name, his was greeted with laughter, rather than hellos. For months, Dexter was to scared to talk to anyone, because he was scared that the second he introduced himself, he would be made fun of. Everyday on the playground, he had to deal with the jokes and insults of classmates, never feeling like a single person cared. Finally, when Dexter was hiding underneath a slide, a boy came up to him, with a small smile on his face. He sat down next to him and said, "You know, I think Dexter is a pretty cool name. You can even make a cool nickname out of it. Right, Dex?" From then on, the two were inseparable, being the best of friends for years to come.
About a year after the two became friends, Dexter found out that his friend was also from a magical family. Since the two spent so much time together, they began to notice weird things happening when the other was around. Each thought that it was their own magic finally manifesting, but in reality, it was both. One day while they were playing catch, Dexter missed the ball thrown to him repeatedly. He started getting more and more frustrated, and when he missed the ball one last time, he stared at where the ball landed, focusing all his anger on it, causing the ball to burst into flames. [Soc's Character] instantly picked up an empty bucket off the ground to fill with water, wanting nothing more than for it to be full, and started to run towards Dexter and the ball. By the time he got there, the bucket was completely full with water to poor on the flaming ball. Both looked at each other, shocked and scared what might happen next. Dexter eventually told him that his family was magical, and that it looked like Dexter himself was as well. [Soc's character] laughed and told Dexter that his family also had magic. The continued to talk all about magic and Hogwarts, planning all the fun and adventures they would have once they got there.
Now in his fifth year, Dexter has changed quite a bit from the little bullied boy. He's grown to love his name, even though he still mostly goes by Dex and has grown more confident, if not overconfident, of himself and his abilities. Dex has tried to maintain his "tough guy" image, seeing himself as one of the coolest kids in Hogwarts. Though, underneath it all, the shy and frightened boy is still there, worried that things might end up like they were once again.
