Hekate slipped her hands into the pockets of her yellow leather jacket, which stuck out like a sore thumb among the sea of dull colors and made her way over to a small group that had begun to gather. Inside the circle, Hekate observed a man with a pullout card-table, cups and a ball try to cheat the crowd out of large sums of money. She elbowed her way to the front with a sour expression and slid him her last few dollars. Once accepted, the man placed the ball under the middle cup and quickly begun to swap all three at a moderate pace. When he stopped, Hekate didn't hesitate to point to the left cup. The man grunted and lifted the cup, revealing the ball.

He was in the crowd, near the front, watching the strange spectacle. He couldn't help but clap when Hekate picked the right cup unflinchingly.

Despite the guy stating that it was simply beginner's luck or potentially luck of the draw, she insisted on trying again. This time, she allowed her eyes to switch between the moving cups and the man who shuffled them, the iciness in the blue depths of her eyes borderline uncanny. Once the cups stopped again, she couldn't help but grin sinisterly. "It's up your right sleeve." Looking offended at first, Hekate had to snag his his wrist to get to the ball. Tossing it on the table, Hekate snagged the money in the pool and quickly pocketed it.

Hekate's straying eyes located a boy who appeared to be around her age, recognition striking his eyes. She awkwardly weaved toward him through the crowd but instead of engaging, sunk back to watch the next person attempt to locate the ball.

"No. I just read minds," she deadpanned over her shoulder while her pale gaze pierced through the crowd. Eventually, she trained her focus on Robin to examine him thoroughly.

"That was a joke," she said and feigned temporary amusement. "I used to love that magician stuff when I was a kid," she lied, her Irish accent a contrast to his Scottish one.
