Terrence and Ignaci[]
|
「 Ignaci Castello 」dragonology apprentice 「 he/him 」
His father had been busy working the last couple of weeks, leaving him to be bored and home alone after leaving the ball. He really needed that text from Terrence and was more than happy to try to get to know his roommate a bit more. First thing- he likes arcades. "Hello!" he announces his presence with a loud voice, but a more polite smile and wave. "Looking good, Kama. How's your break been?"

"Right? Holiday here just means total isolation, I suppose," he says, shrugging and pushing a couple curls out of his face. Usually he would be out skiing in Andorra, but no, they moved here. He turns towards one of the machines and pops a knut into the coin slot. "Are you any good at this sort of thing?"

Ignaci lifts up an eyebrow, glancing back at the other boy with a small smirk. "I don't think I need pointers. Thank you," he says as he leans into the machine and turns back towards it to focus. It's his first time playing, sure, but he's played plenty of games before. How complicated could this one be? Well, he doesn't make it very many rounds before a bright red GAME OVER flashes across the screen and he pulls away with a sigh. He doesn't even land on the leaderboard. Nowhere close. "Maybe I do. How about you show me?" he asks with a cheesy grin, leaning away from the machine so Terrence can stand where he was.

He pats the other boy on the shoulder, grinning as he draws near. "It looks like you didn't, mate," he says with a chuckle. "You should try again. Shit's embarrassing." He points at the score before giving him another pat (this time to the middle of his back). "And I thought I was trash."

He grins as he watches Terrence play, but he's admittedly a bit antsy at the thought of him beating his score. He's a tad competitive about these sorts of things. "Beating two levels doesn't make you good," he teases. "You've got to be better than that." He leans back and stands behind him, hands on his hips as he peers over the other boy's shoulder.

"I would rather not. I'll just watch," he says as he moves his arms to fold over his chest. His expression becomes a bit more stern and for once, he looks like a student that might actually fit in at Durmstrang. Not like everyone is mean and evil there, but being a bubbly idiot doesn't necessarily win you any favors. Almost anyone would tell you that. Durmstrang is where children's interests go to die. "You won't make it to level six," he adds smugly.

He nudges Terrence's shoulder and grins, laughing as he musters out a quick "I told you! Sort of!" Ignaci angles himself between his dormmate and the arcade machine, wiggling himself in so he can try and beat the other boy's score. "And that's what it's supposed to do. Have you never played before?"

Ignaci isn't necessarily competitive, but he is when he's trying to impress someone and the thought of winning one over on Terrence excites him. He leans into the machine and pushes another knut into the coin slot, slamming the START button before toying with the joysticks and buttons. "I don't know about that, Kama," he says, tone cocky. He beats the first couple of levels before things start to get more difficult again. "I'm pretty good at proving people wrong." He takes a glance back at the other boy between levels and gives him a quick wink before focusing again.

"Sounds like you're the one that's a bit salty, baby," he says, smirking and leaning into the machine a bit more. He smashes at the buttons on his right and expertly fiddles with the joystick with his left. When he beats the fourth level, he takes the break in between levels to toss a look back at the other boy. "Who says I'm not skilled?" he asks, turning back just in time for the fifth level to begin.

He rolls his eyes. Terrence does seem salty, but that's okay. He likes a challenge even though he would never tell someone else that. Again it seems rude. "Okay. Okay. Shouldn't you want your friend to succeed?" he asks, reaching the end of level five and turning back with a look of offense. "Boom, see? Made it." He blows a dramatic kiss, causing his earrings to swing and tug at his earlobes before he turns back to the machine and the GAME OVER flashes across the screen again. He was a bit too distracted and missed the beginning of the level. "Wow," he lets out, absolutely dumbfounded.

Ignaci grins and fluffs his curls. "Dance Dance? Tell me about a good time," he says with a cheesy grin. He moves towards the machine ahead of the other boy, stepping onto his side before bowing and motioning towards the other side. "Kama," he announces with a faux professional tone.

He stretches his arms up into the sky, locking his fingers as he grins back at the other boy. "You're too kind," he says loosely, swinging his arms behind his back and shrugging his shoulders before selecting "Hoping To Be Good" by Billie Hamel. Quite symbolic, don't you think? He thinks so. Maybe he isn't using symbolism correctly... He's never been very good with these things. "You're on, Kama," he challenges, tilting his head slightly at the other boy before pressing start on the difficult level.

Ignaci is by no means good at Dance Dance Revolution, but he's played it a time or two. He's not doubting Terrence and is more so overestimating himself. He tries to keep the pace, but he's quick to laugh as he falters and it slowly begins to unravel from there. One error and the whole routine falls apart, it seems.

He isn't a quitter, so he tries to regain his pace and seems to catch up towards the end. It doesn't do him much good though. Terrence's score is way higher than his and he's panting. Perhaps he needs to start getting more exercise. "You probably did," he says through heavy breaths, leaning against the railing and looking over at the other boy with a pleased, tired grin. "Not too bad, Kama. You deserve that win." He winks again and looks back at the screen, wiping his jaw as he taps through the song selections again.
