Sabquarters
You follow some old tunnels through the citadel. Its grey walls seem to turn brown, like stone. You quickly realise that you're going downwards - underground by now, you're sure of it. These catacombs are the oldest part of the building. The walls whisper should you be here? You press on, there's important business you have with Miss Le Fey. As you reach her 'quarters' you are struck by how empty it is. All there is in the middle of the room are two bronze braziers, in the middle of which is a chair, seated on is Sabrina herself. Her lips curl, you'd better state what you want and fast- she doesn't look best pleased.

Sabrina and Morgan

Sabrina side-along appareted to the safest, most secure place she knew of. It had been eleven years in the making, but it was time. Morgan would be safe in the Citadel, so long as Sabrina played her cards right. Plus, the citadel was his birthright. She had to bring him here. Except - she'd have Tessa to contend with. The apparation was relatively smooth, however, it was the first time Morgan would have used that as a means of transportation. She looked to her son, to see how he was coping.

Although the Citadel is pretty, and the architecture is a whole lot more interesting than what he’d had to see in previous - it wasn’t the island. The change in surroundings hadn’t shaken him up as much as made him simply wish he were back home. His eyes adjust to the dim light and goosebumps prickle up all over his arms. "It's freezing," he murmurs, fingers knotted together in the front pocket of his hoodie, eyes cool and focused on his mother. “I feel like there’s something you’re not telling me,” he says, not accusing, just curiousis.

She casts two nonverbal incendios at the braziers, the room filling with heat and light, and a the crackling sound of burning wood. "My sweet summer child. Welcome to the Citadel. This is everything me and your father built. But we didn't build it alone." She moves to him and sits next to him, taking his hands into hers, to warm them up. "You see, there was another woman. Fierce, and formidable. Adele." She says the name wistfully, like a former addict, recalling an old drug. "She and I were married, and she had a daughter, Tessa." She explains, pausing so that Morgan can keep up.

His mother is the best storyteller Morgan's ever known - her bedtime stories were worthy of awards. But the way she's talking now... doesn't feel like a story. It feels like truth. Listening to her words, his brow furrows with all this new information. "I... have a step-mum," he says, slowly, before it clicks quickly into place: "Had a step-mum. And a step-sister."

She nods. "Tessa has been looking after the Citadel whilst we've been on the island. She's like her mother - wary of strangers, and not exactly inviting at first. So we have to be cautious. Truth be told, I'm not sure how she'll react to finding out you exist."

Well, that's reassuring. He's certainly not an optimistic, and his mind jumps instantly to the worst case scenario, which unhelpfully looks like the most realistic outcome too. "Is she going to try and kill me?" he asks, deadpan. "I mean - I'm nothing but a threat to her, really."

She chuckles, a soft purr of a laugh. "My sweet cherie, Tessa won't kill you. You and Tessa are both my children. And she may be....cautious, at first - but she'll grow to love you. I know she will." Sabrina, for once in her life, isn't sure. But she has faith and hope that Tessa is equally her child as Morgan is.

Although he can sense his mother's uncertainty, he tries to push it aside and focus on the positive: a sister, family. More family he can get to know, who know what it feels like to... well. Be in this type of life. "What about uncle Dunstan?" he asks, a new brightness to his voice: he adores his uncle. Or, more rather, he adores the hot chocolates his uncle makes, with the whipped cream and cinnamon syrup. "Is he coming around anytime soon? It's been a million years since I last saw him."

She tucks some of his flyaway hair behind his ear. "I need to stop cutting your hair myself." She says in a low voice, "We'll see uncle Dunstan soon, I promise." She says warmly, thinking about how much she misses her brother. "And if you think he's nice, wait till you meet your uncle Ambroise. Although I doubt he'll give you hot chocolate. He's a doctor." She recalls.

He scrunches his nose up, face all crumpled. "Ew. Doctors are boring." A beat passes and Morgan's about to ask about whether they go to that new city that's opened (probably not - too big a risk) but his curiosity gets the better of him. "Mum," he begins, voice suddenly soft and careful. "Tell me about her, again. Adele? She must have been- I mean, you must have loved her. If you married her." His eyes narrow with slight suspicious. "Was she before or after Dad?"

She looks up at the dark ceiling wistfully. "She was before, after and during, my sweet summer child. Your father was beautiful and charming, and I did love him - but Adele, I would have sold my soul for. She was the one who I'd run away from all of this for. But unfortunately, I couldn't protect her. And when she was taken away from me, I was given you." She says, wiping away a single tear from her cheek. And that's why I'm still here today. She thinks, but dares not say.
