Cryptlefey

You press on, trying not to think of what lies ahead. As you're just about to lose hope, you see a light. It's a warm, purple-ish light, and you walk through a set of magnificently gaunt double-doors, inlaid with what looks like human skulls. As you walk through the doors, you enter the ancient Crypt of the le Fey family. Magnificent in size, and illuminated by enchanted purple and orange flames, to give it a permanently mauve glow, the gothic crypt it breathtaking. You can smell thick heavy incense, which soothes you, especially after the swampy catacombs. Stone gargoyles look down upon you, with eyes that seem to follow you as you make your way around the crypt. You take a moment to blow the dust from each grave and see the name. Guinevere Pendragon…Ygraine Pendragon…Uther Pendragon…Mordred le Fey…Morgause le Fey…Morgana le Fey… — the names of dead ancestors to Sabrina, the stuff of legend. Perhaps, however, the most impressive is the one in the centre - the eldest of them all…Merlin Ambrosiusthe Merlin.

The confrontation with Soren still has him pissed off, but Reuben's got a mafia boss to kill and a recovering junkie to not murder along the way, so he's got a packed bag over his shoulder and he's making his way through the Crypt, trying not to look at all the stone faces glaring at him as he leaves. Soren's comment about him being the reason Adele died... as true as it might be, it's hurting him. Either that or the Polyjuice is wearing off.

The past days have been emotionally taxing, and Tessa needs solid ground to stand on. Being surrounded by Sabrina's disappointment, Julian's needs, and Karith's hard stare has become close to asphyxiating, so she's here, where she doubts anyone else will come. Quite ironic, too, all things considered. She's standing right in front of Merlin's grave, one arm crossed over the other as she stares right down at it, lost in her thoughts.

Not gonna lie, for a second, Reuben thinks the figure at the grave is Adele - or Renee, with her brown hair - but then the light shifts and he realises who it is. Oh lord. A lot has happened over the past few days, and the last thing Reuben needs is to be cornered by his Rottweiler of a niece. He attempts to walk straight past her, hoping she's too engrossed in her thoughts to notice him.

As immersed in her thoughts as she may be, she hears, sees and feels Reuben walk past her. But because she's as antisocial as he is today, she doesn't address him. No. She may have discovered he knew details about her mother's demise, but the state she's in right now - she isn't sure she can take anything else.

He makes it to the next archway when the pain becomes much more physical, spreading across his chest like a tightening vice and Reuben almost doubles over. He manages to suppress it a little, but his hand flies out and grips the doorframe as he visibly stills, teeth gritted until they hurt. Shit. He has no Polyjuice on him either - he needs to move.

Tessa's lifts her head, turning it and looking towards Reuben, gripping onto the frame and looking like he's passing stones. She regards him with an arched eyebrow. "Need help walking, Cole?" she asks, sardonically.

He'd reply if he actually could talk. Sweat beads on his forehead as Reuben manages to turn a little, one hand clamped around his stomach as he feels his features begin to change. Shit shit shitshitshitshit. He feels himself thin out a little, feels his face contort and his new colour streak through his hair.

If anything caught her attention about his ongoing struggle - was he having a mental breakdown? - it was his hair's gradual change. Her eyes narrow as she puts two and two together: polyjuice potion. Tensing, she unsheathes her wand, aiming it at Reuben's back. "Turn around, slowly and carefully."

The last dark hairs of Reuben escape, leaving dirty blonde in its place, and as the pain fades away, a face unfamiliar to Tessa and the rest of the Parade - except Sabrina, of course - curses silently to itself, before the hunched-over figure turns around to face Tessa. The face is a little bruised below the right eye, and the stubble needs shaving. But he has the Bellerose eyes - dark and piercing.

The eyes throw her for a loop; they're so like Adéle's that, for those first few moments, Tessa can't breathe. Her heart falls to her stomach and her chest aches, until she reminds herself - breathe. Slowly, she lowers her wand. "She didn't want you here," she mutters, her voice flat. "So pray tell, why are you going against that?"

Tessa's coldness is so much like her mother's - his sister's - that it makes Lucien blink, takes him aback ever so slightly. But then his face darkens again. If he were looking at the Tessa he'd heard stories about - doe-eyed, butter-wouldn't-melt, cheeky and cheery - he probably wouldn't be so crude; but this Tessa is a whole different ball game. The Parade has clearly made her into one of them. "Because she isn't here any more," he says back, voice low and gruff.

"And let me guess - you were involved in making that happen, huh? She always did say you were trouble. How'd you get her killed?" Tessa scowls. She's got half a mind to cast Crucio on him, but her mother's memory holds her back. No. One of the few things Adéle taught her was to never get involved with the Unforgivables. "Tell me, Uncle, how'd you do it?"

He's never prided himself on being self-controlled, and maybe the truth of Tessa's words sting him a little, which is why Lucien comes out with, "I'm not to blame. She was in Italy to help you, making connections for you. If anything, it is you who got her into that situation." But then he remembers who he's talking to, and imagines Adele's berating face glaring at him, and that helps loosen some of the tension in his jaw. "We can either stay here all day blaming each other for things beyond our control, or we can blame the scumbag who actually took the knife and used it. Your choice, ma cherié." The French comes out with the accent of a native, but the words are dripping with bile.

A discrete sweep of his figure confirms what Tessa already knew; he'd dropped his guard. She lowers her wand completely, slipping it into her robes' inner wand pocket. Furthermore, she was an experienced witch; she'd learned how to do wandless magic shortly after the attacks in Hogsmeade. So she casts, short and sweet, the tempest jinx. Does his comment warrant a murder attempt? Yes, it really does. "I never asked her to do anything," she snaps back. "What are you here for, Lucien? I'd have thought you'd already have everything you need to hunt him down and get your revenge."

His wand is out in defense before the jinx can reach him; he too is an experienced wizard, one who is rather tired of people throwing curses at him. “Don’t even try it, you stupid little girl,” he grumbles, attempting to deflect it casually. “I’m here for Soren, he has a poison I desire.“

"Don't patronize me. Just get what you want and get out; I'm sure you've already overstayed your welcome," Tessa doesn't even know what to say to him. As it is, she struggles to even look at him; he just resembles her mother too much, and it makes her heart fall to her stomach. It makes her want to puke. Unable to bring herself to say anything else without crumbling all over again, she turns away to head out of the Crypt. This whole ordeal - the heartache, the suffering, the loss - wasn't what she signed up for that fateful day when she was 6.
