"If bad things start happening, then they're your fault." She would turn and walk promptly back into the house, and up to her room into her bed.

It didn't budge. Thomas glared at the fence, then back at the house. "You've gotta be kidding me! Charity!" He kicked at the fence post, and then at a few other ones on either side of it.

He went down the left kicking each one, and pulling on them. Nothing budged, so he went down the right side, doing the same. About four fence posts down, one of them seemed like it could be coaxed into opening. "Possibly."

He dug a bit under the fence post, and then placed the tip of the shovel underneath the fence post, and started pushing down on the handle, hoping to snap the fence post... and not the shovel.

He heard more snapping and eventually, the fencepost would fly up a few inches. Thomas put the shovel to the side and pulled up on the fence post with his hands, trying to leave it intact on the fence, and just sort of hinged up near the top.
