History

Alistair grew up in a neglected household. His father was a high standing citizen in the wizarding community and had ties with the royal family, which carried down into Alistair eventually. However, he moved around a lot. Acting as an ambassador between ministries. He had two children, though. Peter and Alistair, with a five year difference between the two. On the other hand, his mother rarely left the house. She suffered from Munchausen syndrome, which culminated into acting as if her children were ill themselves. Pete, on the other hand, feeling as if he had little control under his mother or his father, tried to gain control over Alistair. He picked on him constantly, never stopping his torment until he left for Hogwarts but picked it right back up during the summers. Thus, Alistair felt alone, isolated. At school, he was labelled out as the sick child, the one to stay away from.

Of course, it didn't help that the mother constantly fed him medication that he didn't need. He couldn't count the amount of times he spent throwing up, his body rejecting the medication she'd feed him. He was a sickly child. The type of child you'd drag your child away from. Whenever his father returned him, he usually ignored Alistair, preferring Pete. The prodigy of the two sons. Pete was the golden child both at home and in Hogwarts, a natural at magic. No matter what Alistair told his parents, how Pete would use him as a punching bag, push him into ice water when he knew Alistair could barely swim, they never believed him, believing him to be a jealous brother. So eventually, Alistair gave up and retreated into the shadows. When Pete was at Hogwarts, Alistair initially believed he'd be favoured by his parents now, given some sort of attention. That didn't happen. His father just disappeared off for work and his mother ignored him. When he was six years old he had his first magical incident. He made a handful of coins duplicate. He wanted to buy some lollies from the corner store but his mother had short changed him. He knew then that he was also destined to follow Pete into Hogwarts. Which was a surprise to the three others in his family. They had deemed him a squib.

He was sorted into Slytherin (it took only a second for the hat to decide) and he settled in rather quickly. Soon he regained his health but he still clung to the shadows and found himself awkward and shy when it came to talking with his peers. He was a studious child, of course he was always in the shadow of his older brother, but he had good grades. Of course, he loved Hogwarts. He loved magic, though by fourth year, he found himself falling into wrong crowds. The type that whispered stories about blood royalty, how muggles shouldn't be accepted into Hogwarts. How Voldemort had the right idea. Of course, Alistair never fell into dark magic, kept himself on the outskirts but found himself agreeing with the principles. Pete, of course, was completely the opposite. A Gryffindor, he was a Quidditch star and the star of the students and had even been head boy. However, he never graduated. He was dead before that happened.

It happened in Alistair's second year. He was home for Christmas and he and Pete were wandering through the nearby forest during a full moon. Alistair didn't want to be there, he wanted to sleep, but he didn't have much of a choice. He was ignoring Pete, who was taunting him, trying to get a reaction. It was like a scene out of a horror movie. A jump scare. The wolf wasn't there one second then it was the next. It had grabbed Pete by the neck, beginning to drag him away. Pete was reaching for him, begging for Alistair's help. But Alistair just stared before turning on his heel and running. He didn't stop until he got back to his house. His mother was out playing bingo and his father was on one of his work trips. He burned his muddy clothes and went to bed. That morning, he called in his brother's disappearance.

He might not have decided this path if it hadn't been for an event a few days beforehand. He'd been with a friend from town, a new friend. Something that Alistair had never experienced before. They'd become friends, spending every other day with each other, until Alistair found himself kissing him. It had happened quickly and he wasn't sure what was happening until he had heard Pete's voice. Scaring the other guy away, Pete reduced Alistair to tears in minute with the onslaught of abuse. Afterwards? Never looked at a man again.

Alistair found his funeral far too extravagant and decided half the people were faking their emotions towards his brother's death. There was only one good thing that came from his brother, though. It was his movie, record and camera collections. Pete worked part time at a grocery store and spent all his money on this. Within this collection, Alistair found Pete's journals, found his plans. How he planned to set up a business after graduation, a television channel. Alistair latched onto it. And for the next six years, he expanded on his brother's ideas, on his plans. During the summers, he interned at the local television company, gaining experience. During this time, he began to follow his father, who unwillingly let him latch on, learning from him. Though he didn't want to be involved in politics (back then anyway), his father drew a crowd to him and had necessary skills Alistair would need to succeed which Alistair recognised. Politics and business. Was there much of a difference?

When he graduated, he got a loan from his father in order to create his own television network in the wizarding world. Peter had seen an opening in the market years ago and Alistair took it. By twenty five, he was one of the biggest businessman in the country with the largest network organisation which kept on growing year after year. During that time, he was reconnected with the royal family, making his own connections with them, though it was nothing sinister. He was simply friends.

His wife, ___, wasn't romantic. It was arranged. Her father was the CEO of Silencio records and Alistair was more than happy to create connections with it. For him, it was a simple business move. Not that the marriage wasn't successful. He loves her well enough. Not enough to keep himself faithful. He had his first child with her when he was twenty nine but he knew he had had children before this one. It never stopped, however. Alistair found himself with bed with girl after girl. Sometimes, he was caught, with the mistress coming out pregnant. He paid her off quickly enough and always showered his wife with affection and attention afterwards. When those children grew up, he refused to claim them and discarded them with a shrug. He had more children with the wife, expecting the oldest son to be the heir to his company, as it should. However, he found both and and his eldest daughter renouncing their claims, meaning his third child, a daughter, was the heir. Though he was disgruntled that it landed on one of his daughters, he was going to groom her anyway. Furthermore, his legal team kept every sexual assault claim under wraps and hushed up. Not that Alistair particularly cared about those people, as long as it never went public.

Personality

Alistair is a power seeker and believes only in money. He believes that he is untouchable and his bank will keep it that way. Business savvy, his mind only ticks in how he can improve his company and how he can build upon his fortune. When it comes to his own children, he's thinking who will be the right heir, wondering how he can benefit from their dreams and aspirations. Alistair knows how to make money and it's his top priority. That and the fulfillments of his own desires, really. He believes money will make him happy and so far, it's done a pretty good job at that. He's highly ambitious and doesn't hesitate to undermine someone else, even steal their idea, in order to further cement his own power and influence. He's calm though and isn't easy to get a rise out of and can keep a level headed in most situations. Though sometimes he uses this to be intimidating. Alistair, being a highly powerful businessman and influence, can be quite a presence, drawing attention whenever he enters the room. He enjoys when the spotlight is on him, having been deprived of it when he was a child, and hates being in the shadows of someone else.

Alistair is a conservative, to say the least. He believes the world should be the way the natural order designed it. He finds himself dismayed by the world, believing it to have turned to sin and that the wizarding world is digging it's own grave. In short, Alistair could be described as a blood supremacist, a homophobe and believes men are the dominant sex. . He doesn't believe either minorities, including, but not limited to, half-breeds, 'mudbloods' or homosexuals, belong in the magical community. For starters, considering he thinks like a businessman, why would he want to hire a werewolf when he would have to give him a day off every other month? Of course, there are other reasons but there is a deep hatred within Alistair for anyone out of the ordinary. The wizarding community is better off without them. Alistair is firm in his ideals and can be difficult to sway. Even his own children wouldn't be enough to sway him from these beliefs.

However, in reality

Alistair isn't a family man. Though he has a large family and loves them well enough but he left it to his wife to raise them. He had no time for that. He believes, as their father, that he should call from them utmost respect and unquestioning loyalty from them. He gave them life and he gave them their life. They'd be nothing without him. Furthermore, when it comes to woman, he's flippant with them. He takes them whenever he wants them. In all honesty, Alistair is trying to fill a hole inside of him, trying to fill whole. To feel happy and he believes power will do just that. He doesn't particularly care who he has power over, whether it be money and influence, or over people. He needs it. However, Alistair knows how to throw a party, knows how to entertain people, knows how to win them over. Unless you're in his inner circle, he's simply a successful businessman. He's intelligent though. Cunning, sly, he knows what he's doing and he knows how to move the world around in order to achieve what he wants and so far, it's done him good.
